Jonesy Tawny Port - I just opened it tonight while I was reading. It's really good, admittedly I'm not a port expert, but a friend of mine is the manager of a wine shop and recommended it to me. A bottle costs $9 for this Australian Port and Robert Parker rated it a 93. I'm very happy with it. I hope others here will try a bottle on my recommendation.

A cup of Ristretto Roasters Mexican Chiapas made in the Aeropress and a bowl of GL Pease Picadilly v. 2003.

I think that the Chiapas made in an Aeropress may be the smoooothest cup of coffee around.

I also made a Latte for my wife with the Decaf Columbian in the Aeropress and got rave reviews.

The Solis Maestro and Aeropress kick butt over the blade grinder and french press.

A pot of Tsar's Blend from Special Teas with a little milk and some raw sugar. My first time with it or any other Russian tea. It was very good. I enjoyed it very much.

Now I think I'm going to have some more of that Jonesy Port, I love this stuff!

I like big, bold flavors, so I ordered the Ethiopian and the Sumatran. Din threw in a sample of the Mexicano, and I agree with your comments. It's extraordinarily smooth, and one of the least bitter coffees I've tried.

I'm moving to Portland.:tongue_sm

12 years in the Bay Area was 12 years too many. I'm glad to be in Portland. And the weather's fantastic! :thumbup1:

Indulgence...oh...uh, I had some Peet's coffee today? Sorry, DJ, I ran out of Ristretto's and haven't made my way back to your shop.

A good tawny port or Sake. I use an AeroPress for my coffee. It seems to be the coffee maker of choice around here. :) Smoothest cup of coffee ever and you can tinker with it to no end to taylor to your individual tastes. As far as coffee is concerned, my daughter is from Antigua, Guatemala and I beg anybody who is visiting or returning to the states to bring me some fresh roasted from the plantations. Otherwise, I try to find the freshest roasted beans out there. The fresher the roast the more complex and better your coffee is going to be. If not coffee then Japanese fresh brewed loose leaf green tea.

Montes Alpha 2004 Syrah. A very tasty Chilean Syrah picked up from Costco. The slightly sweet undertones of currant paired quite nicely with the steak (of the Salisbury variety) prepared by my personal chef, Mr. H. Helper.

I hope a touch is no more than one or two "drops"! Let it breathe!

I only have a couple whiskies that I will ever add ANY water to, but this happens to be one of them.

I, forgot, after that I had a nip of Calvados.

Sorry, I didn’t see your post. It’s a Polish vodka flavoured with bison grass. I really hate to call that vodka, which is an alcohol I intensively dislike. High quality bison-grass vodka doesn’t taste like vodka at all.

Leave it in your freezer for a night and enjoy.

Since trying Cinci style chili I always add a touch of cinammon to my chili--not too much, but a pinch adds a lot of taste.

I also use some finely ground coffee, lots of cumin, some chocolate (Mexican is best) and a touch of molasses.

Mmmmm. . .chili.

One of the great things about living in the area...I can indulge that craving any time I feel like it!

For me, Skyline wins over Gold Star by just a hair...

Jonesy Port. I'm addicted to this stuff. It's so good.

This past week, I've got a few bottles of Port. I have a question:
How does one properly store and preserve an open bottle of port?

Cumin is one of my favorite spices, but the already ground version is worthless. Toast some cumin seeds in a hot, dry pan until frangrant (you'll know when), then grind 'em up in that old blade grinder that you're discovered isn't good enough for coffee, et voila!

Port doesn't deteriorate as quickly as most wine. You can usually get several days out of an open bottle. Since air is the number one enemy, you can decant it into a smaller bottle and cap it (I save 375ml bottles for this purpose) or spray some wine preservative into it to displace the oxygen. If you take a swig or two daily, it won't last that long, anyway.
