I want to say hello and thanks to all the contributors of this wonderful forum. I jumped into the world of DE shaving about 2 weeks ago, and it was reading badgerandblade that gave me the impetus and guidance to make it happen.
My first purchases for this self-indulgent yet functional hobby included:
Merkur 23C
TOBS Lavender
EJ Sea Buckthorn
EJ Best Badger Brush
Prorasso AS Splash
Prorasso AS Balm
Basically, tried and true implements and products with bang for the buck.
I get a decent enough shave rather quickly from my Sensor Excel and no name can of goop, but the DE gets much closer at the expense of more time. I hope I can get a respectable shave in under 10 mins with the DE, even if it takes a few months to get there. Not that I want to rush, but such is the life of a cubicle monkey with traffic to beat. However, a relaxing half hour in front of the mirror is nice when I can get it.
I also tried an electric a few months back. What a piece of garbage! I think it pulled on and missed more beard than it actually cut. It was thankfully bought under a generous return policy.
Now I look forward to shaving. It's good to have those little things in life to look forward to.
