I will be in New York next week and i will be interested in visiting any good shave shops (do these exist anymore in New York) and looking to buy any shaving related "stuff"!
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Paul Mole

There is a post somewhere listing all the places in NY. I just can't find it now...

I wouldn't mind spending some time in that NY Shaving Co store but don't forget the 8.875% sales tax (unless they raised it again) on top of the already marked up prices.

I've had good luck at Pasteur's. They have a great selection and the prices would be tough to match. The staff is not unfriendly, but they aren't eager to help either. The only downside to Pasteur's is that both shops are incredibly cramped! Cambridge Chemist's also has an excellent selection, plus you have room to breathe and the owner is incredibly helpful. Unfortunately, the prices at CC seemed consistently much higher. Personally, I'm okay with paying a bit more for customer service, but not much more. Thus, most purchases of mine in NY have been from Pasteur's.

Best of luck.

I lived in New York for many years and besides the links you seem to have been given, I shopped at:

Caswell-Massey of Lexington
518 Lexington Avenue
New York, NY, 10017, US
212-755-2254

They are not shave spe......ts, but do have some nice AS and colognes. This would be a good stop if you are with a female partner as they have lots of soaps and such. My wife loves their lavender products.

Have a great trip and watch your wallet :001_rolle

You neglected to give him the secret message - "I'm a member of Badger & Blade." Forum members get a discount. He also ships his stuff for no charge.

from pasteur's you can visit the ginger man (http://www.gingerman-ny.com/). so after sampling some fine NYC shaving you can go and get hammered.

They do have a small selection of pricey DOVOs in the glass cabinet opposite the soap.

You may want to visit the Lafco store (exclusive distributor of Santa Maria Novella). The store doesn't really offer any discounts, but you can pick up their terrific pre/post shave and shave cream, plus try one of their dozens of colognes and after shaves. The store is in SOHO, on Lafayette Street about 1 block south of Houston. Its a little hard to find due to scaffolding over the storefront.

I don't think that Bengals laid down. They showed Saturday that the Jets were clearly a better team... Colts should be ashamed though. I hope they lose next week:mad3:

On my first trip to NYC I first hit C.O. Bigelow. A really cool store and I'll always have a place in my heart for it because it's where I first purchased the C.O. Bigelow shave cream. I was looking at the Proraso and the guy behind the counter (from a ways away) said the C.O. was the same stuff but cheaper.

...and while you're here, don't forget to check out:

The Penhaligon's area @ Saks (5th Ave. btwn. 49th/50th Sts.)
The Diptyque area @ Saks (Tam Dao, etc.)
The Creed area @ Saks
The Castle Forbes area @ Saks
The new Creed boutique on Madison Ave. @ 67th St. (in case Saks is out of those 2 flacons of Windsor you've had your eye on :001_rolle)
Etc., etc.

I just did it today....go to 60th street and Lexington and walk up to Lexington and 65th street - you will walk by 3 or 4 shops including cambridge, pasteur, art of shaving and a place I like, I think it's called Newton Timmerman Pharmacy or something...not sure, but it's a nice place and the window display will tip you off to it........good places. Cambridge has the best stuff and room to move, Pastuer is tiny but has good soaps/skin stuff...didn't go to AOS but you can imagine....and the other one has really nice brushes.
