Since my Grandmother knows and openly endorses my new shaving hobby unlike my parents when we went up and visited she took me to a antique store, i saw a lot of GEM's (i picked up a couple) and a few schick krona i think but i also bought what i thought was a gillete tech, but when i got in the car i realized it didnt say gillete on the top and said star where the date code would be.... Anybody have any info about these razors? I love it, it shaves well and the handle is like a squared off version of a ball end tech with a lot more knurling....
On a side note the lady mentioned she had a lot more people picking out old shaving stuff recently.... any of you guys guilty of raiding thrift shops near redding, ca?

+1

The Star brand was eventually owned by Personna (American Safety Razor Company/ ASR), as is the Gem brand.

At one point, there were at least three brands making the exact same 1912 Gem styled razor: Gem, Ever-Ready, and Star.

There have also been a lot of clones/ slight variations of the Gillette Old type made by many other companies, Star being one of these. :tongue_sm

That little Star is a great razor. Just a little bit more aggressive than a Tech. Here is a review:
