I am unfamiliar with this type of pen. What makes it so expensive? To my untrained eye it looks like any other ordinary ballpoint*. I can see that the original price for the pen itself was $22 and I am sure the refill wasn't free, so I do not think you are pricing it too highly. I know a lot of guys on here are really into pens, so I am curious as to why this is a nice one.

I really can't answer the question about what makes it so special compared to any other ballpoint but I can say that it is a nice pen to write with when I am not able to use a fountain pen. I guess it's priced higher than other pens because it's made by Lamy.

I think what makes the pen desirable is the grip and the clip. It would be somewhat more secure in the pocket if you were working around eguipment. Also the grip is unique and would be good for a person who has trouble gripping. I purchased this when I had a de Quervain's release done and was in a soft cast while attending college.

As far as price goes, well it's made in Germany :001_smile and you can go to http://www.xe.com/ and convert 1 USD to ERU and get that one. Beyond that it is a fine writing pen IMO, fairly priced. It is priced well below what I paid for the pen delivered.
