Here's the situation. Most of the week when I'm not at the hospital or in class, I work as a firemedic at two different agencies: a rescue squad and a fire department. I actually don't even know why I have an apartment; it's only utility to me is as a place to store my stuff (I get to sleep in my own room maybe twice a week).
I was wondering how you recommend storing my stuff. I carry a black police duffel bag with all of my toiletries and backup clothes. I like having a wash basin so I have a clean place to keep my warm water while I shave (using the sink basin at a fire department or rescue squad would border on a dance with insanity).
Right now I keep everything separate in my duffel bag but I would like something a bit more organized. I was thinking this: take a glass bowl like you would find in the cooking section of Walmart, add a hand towel (or two), and place on top of that my wooden shaving soap container, my badger hair shaving brush, bottles of my two favorite aftershaves, and my Parker 22R shaving razor (in its box).
What do you think? Do you have any ideas or suggestions that might be more aesthetically pleasing? What do you currently do?
Thank you for the help,
CCM

You really have a ton of options. If you want fancy you can go with leather. If you want durable/function I"d suggest nylon. A quick Google search will yield a ton of possibilities for you.

Thank you for the replies. I actually already have a leather bag like that, but what I am more interested in is having my own clean wash basin. That's what I was focusing on.

Sorry about that. Wash Basin... hmmm you got me there. I've never had a need to haul one around. I suppose you'd have a ton of options there as well. Best of luck. With a membership as awesome as ours I'm sure someone will weigh in with better advice.

Try this portable sink from Cabela's (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0009091511014a&navCount=1&podId=0009091&parentId=cat20097&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20075-cat20097&catalogCode=XK&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20097&hasJS=true)

How about a good, sturdy chip/salad bowl from target? Lightweight and can be put in the bottom of your duffel bag.

 You, sir, are correct!
We have a stainless steel mixing bowl in the kitchen. Should be easy enough to keep sterile.

Back, before I retired the first time, I had a real job and travelled about 200 nights a year, I used to carry my favorite Scotch with me in its bottle. After a number of broken bottles, which meant I had to go to bed sober I switched to a plastic flask, the Scotch didn't taste as good, but at least I could enter an altered state in some Marriott somewhere.
My point is, if you go with glass, it will get broken regardless of how you handle it or try to protect it, it happens
find a good seal on a metal box with non rust finish, I still don't like plastic, and do not drink the water when you finish shaving, been there
take care and slow down,

I knew you'd be along to save the day! I didn't even think about those. Great suggestion.

A nylon bag will do what you want.

Yes, Targe't is my next stop to see if I can find a bowl large enough. I really like that portable sink too!
