Two brushes offered for sale as a lot:
1) Vintage Simpson's Wee Scot Best with butterscotch handle. Possibly from the '70s. It's been very gently used but looks brand new. It has the trademark Simpson signature plus a Hoffritz label on opposite side.

2) The other brush is of unknown origin to me. The label says No.1 cm - Possibly Caswell Massey No. 1? I think the handle is wood. Used but not by me. It's not a stiff brush but not floppy either.

$65 shipped to anywhere in North America.
Thanks,
Ray
SOLD Thanks B&B.

Your second brush looks like a Rooney. In fact I have one like it. The remaining decal looks like a Rooney decal. The scribing on the back looks to have been hand done.

Oh ok...Rooney. Can guess approximate age?

...Ray

btw, the writing on back is not added later. Appears to me to be from the maker.

I have a C.M. No. 1 brush quite like that - no Rooney label, rather "Pure Badger/Sterilized/Made in England" on the side opposite the C.M. No. 1. See:

18mm knot diameter
48mm knot loft
50mm handle height

I've seen images of yours, Ray - I thought they look very similar, but there is no Rooney noplace on this.

Jon, very interesting. And not Caswell Massey either? That one (yours?) is almost the same brush. The handle looks like a little different material - resin? I was going back and forth on mine, wood or resin.

Perhaps Caswell Massey - that was my guess. Perhaps re-branded Rooney. (I hope so! That was my thought when I saw Ray's [Thirdeye's].) The packaging has no indication, not even on the inserts. Resin/plastic... certainly not wood.

A hell of a buy - I would have liked the Wee Lad myself...!

Incidentally, I'm sure the C.M. brushes are the same material - just aged differently - see numerous threads & examples of butterscotchery in shaving brushes.
