Just a quick heads up, Gents. The issue of Playboy Magazine currently on shelves (Tara Reid on cover) has within it, four pages dedicated to the resurgence of barber shops & straight razor shaving. Very nice & well informed with language that's not only smart but makes sense to the layperson as well as experienced shavers alike. Check it out if you have the inclination.

You beat me to the post! Just got done reading the article and aside from recommending straight razors and Pinaud Clubman it was a great article!
What do you say we all write letters to the editor recommending Badger and Blade!

I wonder if they touch up their photos with badger brushes instead of airbrushes?

So, what's wrong with straights? I mean, not to the exclusion of DEs or SEs. But, I'm pretty happy with my straights.
The Clubman thing.., maybe I can agree with you on that. :001_rolle

I happen to think that the articles in Playboy are great! They are generally well written and informative. I find myself wanting to read the articles way more than look at the pictures most days. If I wanted to see plastic body parts and too much airbrushing I'd look in an import tuner magazine.

Ironically, Playboy does have some really good articles. I seem to remember them getting interviews with Abbey Hoffman, Kurt Vonnegut, and many others.

I recall that Playboy once had very good articles. I haven't picked one up since naught-2. Like most things in life, they're not as good as they once were. This is the same thing my dad once told me. Either I've gotten smarter, or the articles have generally gotten dumber. It could be they're exactly the same and I just got tired of reading the same drivel over and over. Will be sure to pick one of these up though.

Same here. The articles seem over time to be the same drivel over and over again.
Plus, the centerfolds seem to all look the same.
Still I'll pick up the mentioned copy.
Any chance someone can post it to save us a few bucks.

Shaving Tara Reid. I'm in!
Um...I meant shaving and Tara Reid.
lol!
I don't understand what's so funny about this picture. I've heard it spoken, quite often in fact, that all the best women shave their beavers....

Tempted to buy this, but at £1.25 a page for the shaving article I cant really justify it.

Just finished reading it.
Not much information for B&B members to use. Still it might motivate a reader to try wet-shaving.
One big surprise was seeing my barbershop listed in Playboy's top ten:
La Flamme at 21 Dunster Street, Cambridge, MA.

I wouldn't see anything wrong with recommending straight razors and Pinaud Clubman myself. I aspire to using a straight one day and I regularly use and enjoy Clubman AS now.
There certainly would have been a lack of credibility if they had recommended something heinously expensive like the AOS Fusion Chrome Collection Power Razor and some do-nothing designer fragrance AS. It goes without saying that some things get pimped just because they cost a lot of money.
My .02 cents Canadian.
