The Darkroom is going to be a fantastic resource for those of you looking to improve your photography skills. Within this forum, we'll help each other with, tips, tricks, gear suggestions, lighting, post-processing, etc... However, sometimes it just doesn't make sense to re-invent the wheel. I thought we could start a thread and list of the best photography sites out there. I'll start with some of my favorites.

Strobist (http://strobist.blogspot.com/) - One of the best online resources for creative lighting, including how to do it on the cheap. I've read every single post he's made.

The Radiant Vista (http://www.radiantvista.com/index.php) - While the site has lots of useful content (photography critique, podcasts, etc...), I've found the video tutorials to be outstanding. If you watch only one of their videos, make it the "A Photoshop Reference: Essential Adjustment Layers" (http://www.radiantvista.com/archive/video_tutorials/6/). Warning, it's an hour long...but totally worth it.

naturfotograf.de (http://www.naturfotograf.com/)- Terrible website, wonderful content. Check out his sections on IR and UV photography.

Digital Photography Review (http://dpreview.com/) - The de facto standard for photography gear reviews.

The Luminous Landscape (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/) - Great tutorials and reviews. Some of the most in depth and technical articles on photography around.

John has listed some great sites and if you'll invest a little time in them, you're photographic skills will improve. I love looking at beautiful and creative imagse and one of my favorite sites is Photo.net (http://photo.net/). (It is R rated since there is a section for artistic Nudes.....but I've never been in there:rolleyes: It is art you know!!! )

http://www.photozo.com is a great community of digital photographers. They share, critique, review, and even have free "classes" with weekly assignments.

A great site, with a lot of helpful members.

This is a site by Roger Hicks and Frances Schultz. Hicks and Schultz have written some of the best books on photography that I've ever come across and from what I can see, what they don't know about photography isn't worth worrying about.

http://www.apug.org/forums/home.php This is the Analog Photography Users Group that discusses every aspect of photography except digital. If you shoot film this is the place for you.

http://www.nikonlinks.com/ The site primarily dedicated to the review of old and new Nikon equipment. It also has links to photograhers sites like Ken Rockwell, Bjorn Rorslett ( whose site John has already mentioned) and others.

http://www.nikonians.org/forums/dcboard.php The largerst community of Nikon users in the world.

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/ The largest group of Leica users.

http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/ User reviews of both Canon and Nikon equipment plus 3rd part equipment like Sigma.

I have many more but this is a good addition to the list.

There is a great community on this site. It's aimed mainly at Canon shooters, but only the body and lens forums are biased so. The other forums are beneficial for shooters of any brand. Actually, some of the most knowledgeable posters don't shoot canon.

McCrone Group (http://web.mac.com/gcouger/NewLinks/MicroscopeResources.html) is a great resource, but the site just went through a transition, and a lot of stuff hasn't made it to the new site. Hopefully. they'll fix that.

I've been a member of FredMiranda.com for close to ten years and that is beyond a doubt the best photo site out there, it is for the more advanced and professional photogs. Other sites such as DPReview is excellent for reviews of all cameras especially P&S cams. a FEW members are just plain hostile on some threads and can ruin the experience for others. This site is good for amateurs, advanced photogs and pro lites.
