SOLD

Up for sale is a Simpson Chubby 1 in two-band super badger that Phil at Bullgoose Shaving kindly ordered for me. It is really a great brush with a dense knot, but I prefer the fan shape of my older Chubby 1 so I am offering this to the community. I paid full price (i.e., $165) for the brush, but I realize a few vendors have recently had sales. That said, I will offer it at below sale prices. Asking $125 shipped CONUS - international for an extra $8 - which is the same price as a Chubby 1 in the lower grade best badger. I will also consider trades for a comparably priced, shave ready straight. Brush comes with the original box.

Note that the brush for sale is on the LEFT in the pictures. The second brush is not for sale, nor is the soap.

Thanks for looking!

Have been thinking about getting one of these for face-lathering soaps.

Would this brush eventually 'fan out'?

This definitely is a brush intended for face lathering. Someone with more experience with brushes might have to comment on whether it will fan out or not. It is still like-new, and each time I have used the brush it has dried hanging on a stand and returned to its original bulb shape.

If it is like the other recent 2-band Simpsons, the knot will loosen and fan out a bit (not dramatically) and it will appear less "bulb shaped." These are great brushes but I have found they take more breaking-in time than a boar brush! (I have a CH2 and a T2 recently made 2 banders. It took about 20 uses of the T2 before I even started to like it. But now.......)

Is it just me or does the Chubby on the right look much denser/fuller? I almost thought one was a Chubby 2 while the other was a Chubby 1.

I agree that the two brushes do not show a lot of resemblance, though they are the same model. I originally thought one was pre-Vulfix and the other Vulfix-made, but someone corrected me that they both fall into the latter category. Regardless, they are both great brushes, but I obviously one "need" one. :tongue_sm

Thanks Riooso and B&B.

I got the box today. It sat forever in the Postal Depot in Richmond,CA. Thanks Michael for the brush. I have a few Rooneys. This is my first high end Simpson and it is really quite striking both in appearance and feel. I now understand why people like these brushes. It is a machine!

Thanks again,
Richard
