I got a Wardonia in the mail on Friday. I so rarely score anything. Neat little razor, too! I used it for today's shave with a Bic in it. I don't know much about Wardonia razors. This one indicates it was made in France.

Just arrived from daBay. Case exterior has seen better days, interior looks great. Razor looks like it'll clean up. I am particularly pleased with the blue GUARANTEE slip, and the strop appears to be in it's original wrapper. Neat!

That is sweet. Thomas Ward & Co. made razors in France and Italy back in the day. Don't see a lot of French ones. Well Done!

I just stumbled across it on ebay.... I don't even recall what I was looking for, but I thought it was neat looking so I bid on a whim. It caught a plane here from France so the least I could do was pop a Bic in it and take it for a test drive.

It had to happen someday...
Just bought a straight razor just to practice some honing.
Way too scary for me, so this one will go to a friend ;-)
It's an Ontario Cutlery razor, I sadly do not know anything of it but I assume it is a very common, everyday razor.

Hey Barry,
when your ready to pull the trigger on a bottle of this one, shoot on over to Holt Renfrew. They will have a bottle waiting for you. Who knows, Christmas is just around the corner & maybe the family could fit one nicely in the stocking

I used the Rocket this morning - I know that I am very suggestible and that one would expect that the new purchase would work well - it did! What a great razor - it's mild like a superspeed, but far more solid and substantial. It's a bit lighter and the handle is smaller in diameter than an HD - so a little easier for me to wield.
A great great razor - thanks again, Bill.
I have a nickel Rocket on the way - so I'll be able to preserve the plating on this one. Bill - this is a beautiful razor - the doors are close to perfect.... your pic doesn't do justice

I'll post a picture soon but I think I'm really done with buying DE's for quite a while. I got one of my last grail DE's today so it's off to straights.
Oh yea the razor...a minty #66 (no case cause I don't care about those). That means I've at one time or other had a double ring, a toggle, a 30's Aristocrat, a President, a Diplomat, a #15, an HD Rocket, a #58, a TV Rocket, a Rocket, a New Deluxe, a Sheraton, a 47 SS, a British Popular, and a Gold Rocket. Those were my grail DE's, and the 66, Red Dot Fatboy and bottom adjuster fatboy were the only ones left that I really wanted to just own and use at some point. I give up on the Red Dot and Bottom Adjuster for now
Oh I also got a Swaty Barber Hone off the bay and my 3 wapis plus an Ambrose strop ;)

12-03-2009, 02:59 PM
I wandered into an antique shop this afternoon and picked up a "59" fatboy and a "67" slim adjustable for $3 each. The fatboy is tweaked a little but can be fixed with some disassembly (I hope) and both need cleaning as they're still covered with a pretty green patina. Nothing fancy but some good deals I thought, the drawer they were stuffed away in also had some aluminum DE's and some old straight razors. I'm considering going back and cleaning the drawer out. I don't use SR's but might be a nice deal to pass along to some B&B'ers that do.

that Rubberset is GREAT!
be careful taking out the old knot - the hole flares out inside - bigger inside than the opening (like a globe) and the top rim is easy to chip.

The economy is bad and it's the holiday season. If you have a little extra cash on hand, head over to ebay and the BST cause the deals are really gonna be found now and not at the day after christmas sales.

I went to some antique shops with my Skklog yesterday and my wife today. Here is the score.
Two straights - The ivory one with the green box needs little more than a hone. The Wade & Butcher is a wedge with some engraving on the blade that says "The Clean Shaver". The scales need replaced, but the blade is great.
The gold New has some plating issues on the head, but is otherwise in great shape.
Cased Ever Ready 1924 - This needs cleaned a little and I am afraid has some rust. The case has a little rust, as well.
Old Spice Pottery Mug - This was the one produced by A. E. Hull Pottery Company, Crooksville, Ohio from the mid 40's to the mid 50's. It came with the brush.
Fenton Hobnail pefume bottle.
Then come the exciting ones. :thumbup1:

This is a black plastic handled Tech, date code W-3. I am not positive if this is the correct box, however.

Next is a Schick Type E with Bakelite handle and very nice case.

Last is the most exciting of all. We went into a flea market and I found these at the first booth I saw. A gold Ball-Ended Tech with slots in the handle. Beside it was an Adjustable Executive, date code D-3! Okay, take a breath Blake. Tech has a price of $3. But no tag on the Executive. Surely she knows this is worth something, even though it's not even in an enclosed case. Act cool and go ask the price. I swear on my own future grave she said, "Well, the one is $3. But the other is more expensive." Wait for it...."Since it is heavier, it will be $4." I squeak out a, "Uh, I think I may get that. I'll be right back." I run like an excited school girl to my wife, grab her with my sweaty palms and growl, "I need $7 now, Woman!" I nearly left right then and there, before the cops showed up. :w00t: The only other thing I found was the black handled Tech in the whole building. This, gentlemen, was a good day!

The gold New has some plating on the head, but is otherwise in great shape.
:thumbup1:

I'm pretty happy about winning this item. I don't know what I'm going to do with the brush though.
Let us know what you think. I scored a NOS set (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360208260543&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_1182) a bit ago and I'm still waiting for it to arrive.
Couple of B/S/T scores!

The Hemp shaving stick smells like a green delicious candy or something else from my childhood I can't remember, not the sticky icky though ... I'll try all these out this week ..

My wife and I went to some local antique stores yesterday. I bought a Fatboy with a G2 date code for $8 including tax. It came with four vintage Gillette Super Thin blades that are in perfect condition. The razor needed some cleaning up, and has some wear on the plating, but is in excellent condition.
They also had a Slim that was nasty, but worked fine. It would take a while to clean it. Yuck. Since I already had a Slim, I left it alone. They also had what looked to be a pre date code Super Speed, and what I think was a flare tip. Prices were ver good on all, but I was only interested in the Fatboy.
