This blade was a monster. The scales I made for it were way larger than normal and I decided to add a brass lined Ebony wedge to offset the rich color of the scales. Since the blade has a tapered tang, the scales had to bow enough to allow the blade to close all the way. Fitting the wedge was trickey, because of this, but all in all I think they turned out just fine.
The owner hasn't got this back yet, and he has already had several people inquire about buying it.

Great work, Ray! Did you think about using a 3rd pin on the scales for such a large blade?

That is absolutely GORGEOUS!

What are those scales made of?

There was no need to use a resting pin, the blade closes perfectly and rests where it is suppost to without any help. I don't particularly like them anyway.
As the title says, the wood is Amboyna.

Ah, oops. I missed that. I kept looking in the post itself but not in the title! (Probably a sign to go to sleep.) I'm amazed by how vibrant they look.
