So I ordered a bottle of Italian floid. I actually found it here in the states. i was pretty Happy to have even found it. Anyways long story short, I get n email this morning, and the vendor informed me that the last bottle of floid actually sold out just a couple hours before I placed my order. He refunded me my money.
Does anybody know where I can find this stuff, or have a bottle they don't want?

Good luck finding it. Other than the decants from superlather, I haven't seen it.

Thats one of the "Holy Grails" of aftershave journeys here in the States. Nobody can find a good vendor. If you find it, and dont post your source on B&B...and somebody finds out....

I really recommend you give the Spanish version a try while the US vendors figure out how to procure it.
www.vintagescent.com has Spanish Floid for a bargain!

I got a friend to bring me back a 400ml bottle from Italy when she was there... I cross my fingers that one of two things will happen before I run out. Mark at Superlather.com will find a way to get it here in N. America. Or I will find someone else going to Italy who can bring me back some.

vintagescent.com is where I ordered mine from but I'm not sure what the price is and the shipping was pretty fast coming from overseas only about a week.

I think they only sell the Spanish Floid. A different beast altogether...

I picked up a bottle of the original on the Italian Ebay -- had to email a few vendors to find one who responded in English, and I bought a bottle of the blue from the English online vendor whose name we are not allowed to utter. he usually has them in stock.

Will they ship to the states?

Will they ship to the states?
Yes. But retail shipping from Italy is cost prohibitive. It makes for a nice $100 bottle of drugstore aftershave...

I've always wondered what italian floid is like? Is it similar to aqua velva, or if not, how does it differ?

Hard to describe. Barbershop-y, powdery, has menthol, and it's not too strong, but the scent lasts in a very subtle way. I've never used aqua velva.

Withch is about 189 dollars. anyways, The guy from the sight has been emailing with me back n forth, and we are going to try to figure this out.

Wow. I'll pay a lot for stuff I like, but that's a bit beyond. My friend purchased two 400 ml bottles in Rome (one of Blue and one of the Classic) for 19€ each (about $30 CAD).

These came out to be about 23 Euros a piece wich is about 35 american. The shipping is what killed me. But The guy eric on the other end, was really cool, and answered any questions I had, and we got it done. All I have to do now is sell some razors, and some starter sets... LOL..

How much was the total damage in the end? Were they able to give you a break on shipping?

Has anyone brought up the possibility of an Italian Floid group-buy? If your guy is willing to make a bulk sale, I wonder how much shipping could come down to?

The total damage was 115.... He shipped it priority, and said it should be here in 4 to five days. Now that I will have to see......... shipping was 48

From my review:
Scent: A love-it-or-hate-it affair, YMMV and all that jazz. I'll make no bones about it....this is an "Old Man" type scent. Very sweet at first and then you get a blast of powder; a very refined, classy, old-school powder. Then faint oak notes emerge as it dries. I hated it at first, but after a few days I began to warm to it. Now it's one of my favorite scents. Think of an older, well-dressed gentleman coming out of the barbershop. Embrace the powder!

Saw this and thought I would pop in to say that I am hoping to hear something one way or the other on getting the Italian Floid back in here (along with the other Italian aftershaves) in the next week or two. I'm proceeding very cautiously this time as I don't want any more unpleasant surprises.
I should mention that shipping this stuff internationally by air is a risky business though. If the merchant isn't properly certified to ship these items and they leak during transit the shipper will be hit with a $50,000 penalty by the FAA if it is reported. This isn't an idle threat and they brook no excuses either. Case in point, I had one of my Italian shippers fail to enclose the proper paperwork with a Floid shipment and it was damaged in transit. Upon arrival in the States the carrier reported it and even though the supplier furnished the paperwork afterwards the FAA enforced the penalty assessment. The other day he told me that he has spent north of 5000 euros in legal fees defending the case with no end in sight it seems.
This is why I'm taking my time making the arrangements. I want it right on the incoming and the outgoing. I fear that I will probably no longer be able to ship these items out of the States by air though. In the past I was able to legally exploit some loopholes in the CFR but I'm not sure those options will be available going forward and not at all certain I will chance it if they are.

You know, these restrictions are Flipping rediculas. It's aftershave for crying out loud! They need to spend more time putting their resources into things that matter.
I hope you can get this worked out. Floid seems to be a very saught after product.

5,000.00+ euros for shipping some aftershave without a form. You gotta love this country

I can't believe how hard it is to get aftershave shipped from Europe. You'd think it was plutonium or something. :tongue_sm

Guys I concur completely. It seems to me if the aftershave is burning on board the aircraft it's because you've got other issues to see to! :tongue_sm
Back when I was making the arrangements to bring this in two years ago I spoke with a representative from the IATA basically just to ask if I had indeed "crossed all the t's and dotted all of the i's." He told that I had and that I was in compliance with the law based on what I told him but he said there is one thing you should know. Prepared for the worst I asked him what that was. He said that even though you've gone to all of the bother to make certain things are right you can expect trouble because there will almost always be someone along the chain of delivery who being ignorant of the arrangements you have made will assume you are in violation of the code regulating its shipment. The penalties are so severe they will err on the side of caution and rather than research it they will simply stop delivery and return the parcel. There is also the possibility that while you are in compliance with US statute the country of origin's laws may undergo a revision thus throwing everything into a cocked hat.
From personal experience I can tell you this IATA rep has been right on all counts. For every parcel I actually received during the two years I was importing I had two returned to the supplier. I hope this helps clarify why I have been taking so long making new arrangements on this matter and maybe it will answer the question I get every once in a while as to why the Floid is so high when it only sells for 11 euros in Italy (yes I actually have people email and ask me that question). :001_smile
I'm working on it guys. I like Floid too you know and I want to be a purchase point for the North American wetshavers to be sure. I actually have found one way to bring it in legally but the supplier begged me not to use that particular method and so the search continues. I'll keep you posted.
Cheery bye!

Apart from the name the two Floids have nothing in common. Have you ever tried the two Italians? If you have, you can order decants of the Spanish from me and get an idea of whether or not it is your cup of tea.

I think there is a similarity. The amber Spanish Floid has a very similar scent that is less subdued than it's Italian counterpart; and the Spanish Vigoroso has more menthol and is also a touch more drying than than the Italian.

Yeah, it seems like it would make more sense to ship it via...um...ship. Of course, to purchase enough cases of aftershave to fill up a shipping container.... :001_rolle

You can still ship by sea, and what you're shipping doesn't have to fill a container to do it. There are many companies out there that can book sea shipments and take care of customs clearance.

Vintagescent.com has it for an unbeatable price (cheaper than buying from a vendor in the US). Leon is also a great guy. His shipping is really cheap for a single bottle of Floid (at least the Spanish version with the flat bottle).

I don't approve of his disreputable and unprofesional actions...
I have neither purchased from him nor communicated with him...
But....
If your bottom line is a concern on your next purchase (if/when applicable) the best prices are found on his site (two 400 ml. Ital. Floids shipped CONUS comes to $82.82). And no, I'm not referring to Leon - great guy- or other vendors specifically mentioned in this thread.

I used it this moring with my Gillette toggle, Penhaligons, B&B, and the Italian floid.... I absolutley love it.
I thought 'he who shall not be named' had hung it up. Is there another 'HWSNBN'?
