After thinking it over for a while, I have finally decided to take the plunge and give straight razors a try. I went cheap! I ordered a brand new shave ready straight, and a strop for 60 bucks.
I got it here
https://ruprazor.com/store/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=6&Itemid=32
And if I dont like it, it was only 60 bucks, Better than spending a couple hundred to get set up.
Good start! Hope you like it, read everything you can on how to straight shave! Joel has a good tutorial!
Good luck!
I think I'm going to give it a go in January or February after I have a bit more experience on the DE side.

You should be able to get back a sizable part of your investment back if you don't like it. Ken supposedly does very good work, and these blades are inexpensive but take and hold an edge well, from what I have read (including posts from Ken over at SRP).
Let us know how it goes! I occasionally get the bug and start looking at straights, then I chicken out.

Oh what a website. I am another fella who is thinking about seeing what the straight razor talk is all about. This could prove to be another whole to throw money into :)

I've ordered the razor & strop set from there too, and I've already got 2 other straights that I'm in the process of restoring. I'll use the straight from the package to compare the other two, as the ordered straight is apparently shave ready. This will give me something to aim for in my restoration. Not that my current two aren't already pretty sharp...
