I asked my barber for a shave/tutorial with a straight razor, and it was fantastic. It fealt like I didn't even had hair on my face! :D

He lent me a cheapy shavette style straight (I put half of a fresh DE blade in it) which I tried out tonight for my first straight shave by myself... Did pretty well with a few cuts here and there, but had trouble with my chin area - any recomendations on how to shave my chin without slicing it up??

Thanx guys, y'all have been very helpful so far!

Unfortunately the only cure-all is practice. We have all struggled with the chin and getting it BBS.

I shave my chin in patches. I divide it up into maybe 6 areas and tackle each area using its own angle and attack strategy.

yep - practice.

I fount that I got heaps more weepers and not as good a shave with a shavette for some reason too, so that might be part of it.

I don't have the same type of chin, sorry can't help. As mentioned, pratice helps quite a lot. Sounds like you're on the right track!

Practice, practice, practice.

The shavettes are definitely rougher than any straight I own and less forgiving. My 13/16 spike is less menacing in my eyes.
