Hello,

The score these days: a nice couple of Gillettes.

First one is a Flare Tip I think, the second one I think is an Adjustable C4.

Can anyone help me date these razors?

The Filly 13 arrived on Saturday and has been shaved with. The Filly 14 EPBD arrived several weeks ago and has been shaved with as well.
The 13 gives an amazing shave. The 14 gives the best shave I've ever gotten.
In my opinion, there is no hype over the Filly 14 EPBD... its all true. No hype at all.

This was last week and I don't have pics yet but I received an Alum Block from Em's Place. It came with it's own mini-wicker basket and a free sample of unscented shave creme! I also bought a deodorant crystal from her.

Found this Aristocrat ('48-'50) with a couple blade cases on the bay. Always wanted to shave with one since the 40s style SS is my favorite razor. What a nice shave! The razor is almost mint except for a little protective-coating loss on the doors (gold is intact everywhere) and a few light scratches. Not too bad for 21.50!

Boy, I have some catching up to do...

First, I've had the fortune to benefit from a couple of PIFs.
http://xb6.xanga.com/184f572775530259279220/b206455350.jpg
PIF from Bill (texbilly) - Omega Syntex Brush, Brush Stand, Weishi Razor, C&E Nomad Cream(sample), Tabac Soap, Dirty English ASB, a vintage Canadian Shave Mug, and some Gillette Super Thins. (Pictured Above)
PIF from Nelson (Bayamontate) - Blade Sampler including Israeli Personnas and Derbys (Also Pictured Above)
Thanks to both of you from your generocity!

Long before that PIF, I picked up a shaving mug at the Illinois District Barbershop Convention. I think it was made to be a shaving mug, but it's really more of a soup mug...
http://x38.xanga.com/0d3f542575530259279211/b206455341.jpg

Lastly, I just bought my Fiance her first DE. A Cased, Near Mint Lady Gillette from Harry (Mr. Scruffy).

Today's haul:

The brush handle is CHERRY. The Ever-REady Travel Case was in tissue paper in its shipping box--absolutely perfect. The mark on the head is my damn fingerprint. The Ronson is perfect as well--and too cool. Also, got $3 TV SS that shined up really well, and the neatest, cleanest, brightest ceramic Old Spice mug I have ever seen.

I received 14 Palmolive shave sticks from our brethren in the Uk - thanks to toeKnee and Haligonian.

I found a very very nice English Rocket antiquing today, and I picked up a nice gift set of English Leather AS, cologne and deodorant stick.

I am waiting on a vintage Ever-ready brush to arrive in the mail, along with a a new Best badger knot from Goldennib to restore with, and I am anxiously awaiting my Semogue 1305 boar brush from Leon (Vintage Scents).

a good week overall.

Heading to Seattle this weekend for the Half Marathon on Sunday, and hoping to pick up a few goodies along the way.

Florida Water is an American version of Eau de Cologne, or Cologne Water. It has the same citrus basis as Cologne Water, but shifts the emphasis to sweet orange (rather than the lemon and neroli of the original Cologne Water), and adds spicy notes including lavender and clove[1]. The name refers to the fabled Fountain of Youth, which was said to be located in Florida, as well as the "flowery" nature of the scent.

See here at the Wikipedia: read more (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_Water)

I like its retro look and feel!

I'm sooo happy, as I got my custom made scuttle.

This was the first time making a scuttle for the potter, so he was quite excited to give it a try.
I think the outcome is great, and can't wait to try it out - about five minutes from now :biggrin1:

W&B 5/8 Hollow Ground. Got it from my barber. My last visit, he asked if I could help him identify some straights that he had inherited from the shops previous owner. So, I took some pictures, and told him I'd do my best. There were a few W&B's, an ERN ATOR, and a few random razors. I went for my cut today, told him, and pointed out the current going prices. He thanked me, and on my way out, he tossed the razor to me, in its original case.

This was after a bit of brasso. No rust, not real pitting, and the scales and pins are in excellent condition. Going to have it sent out to be honed, since I like the "aged" look that the blade has.
