I'm ChuckW (Chuck Wright). I'm a retired 67 year old truck driver. I have been wet shaving for about 55 years now. I used a rechargeable electric shaver while on the road but switched to one of Gillette's multi-blade razors while at home. Having become disgruntled with Gillette's quality, I went back to a DE about 3 months ago. I kinda went whole-hog I'm afraid. I bought a Parker 84R. with their newly designed 2010 head, a Conk mug and a silver tip custom brush. The Parker came with 10 Shark blades and a puck of some shaving soap. While looking at other site with Herself looking over my shoulder, We decided to try some other shaving soaps. One of her favorite scents is Lavender so I bought a two puck box of Marke Gold Dachs and a Conks Amber soap.
So far, I'm well satisfied with all but the soap that came with the Parker kit.
I tried the Conk's Amber for the first time yesterday and was amazed at how it lubricated my face.
The Parker razor is a large and heavy razor at 4" in lenght and 3.3 oz. in weight. For me, it feels good in the hand and does as at least as good a job as I remember my old Gillette Adjustable did in the mid/late '50s.

Welcome to the board. Sounds like you have a setup that is working for you, and that is great!!
Where did you buy the kit from, maybe we can pinpoint who made the soap, and then you will know if it has a pretty poor reputation around here.
