This may be even weirder than the dress sock topic, but I picked up a new pair of 'general purpose' boots yesterday and I'm wondering if there might be a particular (or type of) sock that would perform well with this boot (or type of). I'll be wearing these to work with chinos/dress khakis and also casually with jeans. I typically wear Timberland cotton mid-calf socks for a balance of comfort/cushioning and breathability. Boot socks make my feet sweat too much, even those of the wool/merino variety. Are cotton socks ok, or would I benefit by switching to something lighter like a bamboo dress sock? I just worry that the thin material of a dress sock would wear through in a boot.

These are the boots in question: Rockport Elinger (http://www.onlineshoes.com/mens-rockport-elinger-brown-waterproof-lthr-p_id151135)

Thanks for any assistance!

Any socks are okay so long as they're "business socks".

Thanks, y'all. They're at least in beige/khaki/tan/blue colors.
