OMG!

I finally found the courage to actually try this cream I bought last year on a whim...and as I cannot find any Godrej in Vancouver.

It has an awful food / perfume smell. It whipped up an AMAZING lather, but the scent is so bad I couldnt use it.. I washed my brush out four times last night and it still smelled strongly of the cream.

I had to soak my brush in borax and a little bit of pet odour remover - then I lathered up some William followed by some C&E Nomad cream..

I think it's finally gone!

My review: it sucks.

turmeric shaving cream?! hahaha I can't even imagine wanting to smell like turmeric!

Well I agree that the scent is unusual but it is an Indian product that I'm sure appeals to a niche market in that country. I have tried it and I don't find the scent offensive in the least. And it really does make a very good lather.

Apparently, the shop that sells it in melbourne might have old tubes. The cream looks like ear wax...

If you want to use it, try to make superlather with it?

They are not old tubes. That is the color of this cream. Lathers up pure white. It's also a bit runny when it comes out of the tube but as I said before...helluva nice lather.

Interesting thing about turmeric: it's a natural cox-2 and 5-lox inhibitor. In English, it's a natural and very safe NSAID/pain killer as cox-2 and 5-lox are 2 of the enzymes responsible in causing inflammation and us feeling pain (as caused by inflammation).

So it's a funny smelling, runny earwax, pain killing shaving cream. And it makes a nice lather.

And, IIRC, tallow based. Therefore, damn near perfect. :biggrin:

ICK !! A Cox 2 inhibitor (Celebrex ?) that looks like earwax and stinks. I could have done without the visual of stinkin' runny earwax....

Yep, like celebrex (and others) and it's being recommended to people as an effective and safe replacement for the prescription stuff as turmeric has none of the dangerous side effects of the prescriptions.

So, the next time the joints are bothering you, go have a nice yellow curry. !

I have had the same expierence with Tumeric Cream. At first it is awful, but when I got the courage to use it, I found it a good product. It's mustard brown and intially the smell is a turn off, however it has great skin care and the finish smell is not all that bad. It will stay on your brush for a few days so use an old one if your particular or unsure. The company that makes it is Vicco which offers a lot of health care products. I found it at an Indian market here in NJ and at a health food store because of it's natural properties I assume.

The same is true for Godrej's "Rich Foam" (Red). That cedar smell -- while nice -- is still in my C&E BBB. I may get some borax after it, though I use my B&B Essential 2008 pretty much exclusively now.
