So gents in honor of the oft' overlooked most important meal of the day, I figured it was time for a breakfast thread.

So what's your favorite? Whats on order for today?

Today is one of my favorites, Crespelle. In short the Italian answer to the French and northern European Crepe, the crespelle is a little denser and more substantial. For breakfast I like them filled with various jams.

My favorite is either Belgian waffles or hash browns with eggs, neither of which I get much these days. Instead, my go-to for breakfast is a huge cappuccino made with home roasted coffee beans.

My usual breakfast is a few cups of coffee, black.

My favorite breakfast, however, would have to be biscuits and gravy, crispy country fried potatoes, bacon, yogurt, and fresh fruit. I would also have orange juice and coffee, black.

Coffee and smoke for me too, then a pop tart is what I usually eat.

Now for favorite...hard to say...there are so many things that I like for breakfast. Must include eggs and bacon.

I like to have a 'traditional' breakfast every other weekend (OK, every weekend!).

Traditional means: Eggs, some kind of meat, toast, and some kind of veg (potato hash browns, slices of tomato). All rounded out with a some cheese, jam, and agood cup of coffee.

Today was: 2 eggs, locally made rye bread toast, sliced tomato, and some french cheese. Coffee was Minas brand (Turkish style) made in stove-top coffepot.

Tasty.

Today I was up early to get out in the woods so it was gas station coffee and a gob (pittsburgh type of moonpie).
My favorite is black coffee, over easy eggs, home fries, bacon and sausage, buckwheat cakes on the side. This is a breakfast that will keep you going until well into the afternoon.

Absolutely love a big breakfast in any combo of: eggs, bacon, sausage, ham slice, hash browns, OJ, toast/strawberry jam, biscuits/gravy, pancakes or waffles.

Daily reality is diet coke and maybe a pop tart.

Biscuits and sausage gravy, with a side of hashbrowns and scrambled eggs.

Pancakes, eggs, and bacon is also excellent. Waffles are great, but they seem to beat my stomach up.

Fried eggs runny enough to dip my warm buttered toast into. Thick sliced maple smoked bacon or back bacon/peameal. Fresh squeezed OJ and freshly ground black coffee while I enjoy my newspaper outside in the summer or in front of a large window inside in the winter.

When I make it myself I usually have cereal or eggs.

But what I really enjoy is sliced fresh nectarine and kiwi with Greek yogurt, honey and oats.

If I go out for breakfast I like a big cooked breakfast.

I take hash and put it in a bowl about 3/4 in thick. Make two dents with the back of a large spoon. Bake until top is crispy. Break two eggs and put in dents. place back in oven and bake until eggs are as you like them. With that I like biscuits and gravy, hash browns and gravy, pancakes, buttered toast with grape jam, Fresh coffee and a glass of milk. This will keep you going all day after your nap. I like this for supper too.

My usual breakfast is a small bowl of some fiber cereal with soy milk, followed by a cup of yogurt.

My wife will occasionally make pancakes or french toast on the weekends, as my son loves most anything that is drenched in syrup.

We've also been known to do a fried egg in bread, or "frog in a hole," as some call it. My son loves eating the bread middles after they've been toasted in the pan.

Another favorite of mine is sausage, onions, and eggs, all scrambled together. I'm fine with adding green peppers, but my wife can't stand them, so....

For Christmas morning, my mother makes an awesome breakfast casserole that includes fresh sausage, eggs, milk, cheese, and bread. She also makes pecan sticky buns, but I never have any room for it after the casserole.

We'll also occasionally just do some fried eggs (runny yolks, cooked whites), sausage (either fresh patty or smoked), and toast. We have a great store here that sells some wonderful sausage (http://www.bradleyscountrystore.com/). Mom won't make her breakfast casserole with anything other than Bradley's.

Current favorite:

Mashed avocado mixed with lemon juice on toasted bagel with salt and pepper. With fresh coffee.

Long-term favorite:

Bacon, fried crisp on one side, not flipped so still chewy on the other. Chopped yellow onion sauteed in bacon grease, two eggs cooked sunny side up on onions; slides right out of small skillet onto plate. Salt, pepper and dash of Worcestershire sauce. Toast, cooled then buttered (so butter doesn't melt; what can I say, I like butter). Dip the toast in broken yolks. Eat eggs and onions with the bacon. With fresh coffee.

I've always been a fan of the usual big breakfast: eggs scrambled, bacon or sausage, toast with butter and jelly and coffee. The other day I tried Eggs Benedict for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. I am now bound and determined to make this my Sunday morning staple. I really want to try it with pork roll instead of the ham since, well, pork roll is freaking tasty. Now I just need to find a good Hollandaise recipe and have a bit of practice.

Oh, and McCann's Irish Oats are darn tasty as well. Of course it helps if you apply a liberal amount of European-style butter, whole milk and brown sugar. Also, for a nice trick, try sticking the uncooked oats in a skillet to toast up. This really brings out the nutty flavor I think and takes the final dish to a whole new level.

Here is my favorite breakfast:
I use one half tube of Jimmy Dean sausage and crumble it as I fry it. Use about the same amount of hash browns in the skillet in the grease from the sausage. Mix together in the pan with about half a cup or more of fresh green chile and warm. I then add 5 eggs to the mixture and scramble the whole thing together till the eggs are done.
I then put the mixture into a very warm tortilla to make a killer breakfast burrito! Serve with fresh coffee and orange juice! On the week ends we might put a little tequila in the OJ!
Yummy!!
Got to love living in New Mexico!

How do *you* cook your grits?
The recipe is at home but this is very close
4 cups water or chicken broth, homemade or low sodium canned
3 cups whole milk
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/4 cups grits (not instant)
1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)
3 to 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
Freshly ground black pepper
3 large eggs beaten (optional)

In a medium saucepan, combine the water or broth, milk, salt, and cayenne and bring to a boil. Slowly whisk in the grits and lower the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 30 minutes.

Stir in the cheese and butter until evenly incorporated. Season with pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Usual, weekday, breakfast is toast and marmalade whilst I'm waiting for the coffee machine to finish dripping. At least 2 cups of black coffee before I'm even funtioning, plus a travel mug to take to work....I'm not a morning person!

Favourite, usually Sunday, is a nice fat bacon roll. Large white roll, butter on both sides, 3/4 rashers of back bacon (with crispy rind), Heinz tomato ketchup on top. Watch your shirt front for the butter dripping out the back as you take a bite. Plenty of black coffee.

Special, e.g. Christmas morning, scrambled egg with smoked salmon on brown toast. More coffee!!
