I read the directions on a bottle of KMF and if I am correct this is not a lathering or a brush cream. Looks like you place some in your hands, rub in hands, rub on face, shave. Is this correct? Do you or should you use a brush at all?

I've never used a brush with it - it's non lathering so there's not much point.
YMMV, it was OK, but I never found it lubricating enough.

1 to 2 pumps into a lather bowl. Use damp/wet brush to whip up a lather.
or spread on face, then face lather with a brush.
KMF isn't the slickest shave cream, but *nothing* lathers like this stuff. Great for superlathers.
edit: I'm surprised that some don't think that it lathers. This is the most easily lathered cream.

Are you kidding me?? KMF produces a luscious thick lather, especially when used with a brush!!
Paul: The instructions don't mention a brush, because they don't expect their target market to have a shaving brush. But KMF does indeed lather really well with a brush!!

I use it all the time to whip up a superlather. I haven't used it yet solo since I am using the unscented flavor and want the sensory pleasure of a great smelling lather.
I put a pump into my shaving bowl after I've charged my brush on my soap and I get enough lather for 4+ passes.

+2. Lathers well. Takes more water than some creams. I superlathered the Key Lime this morning with MB Spicey Lime soap.

KMF lathers like crazy. I face lather with it, and love to use it when I'm a bit hurried since it takes no time to whip up some fine lather. Scents are pleasant, if a little subtle, to boot.
I've lathered KMF both in a bowl and with my face.

Really? Non-Lathering you say? I think I beg to differ:

I think I like KMF better brushless, which is how I used it this morning, but you certainly can lather it with a brush if you like. KMF used brushless plus a quick Trac II pass gave me a deadly smooth shave this morning, which was kind of humbling given how much time I've devoted to learning DE shaving. However, it was nice to discover a good, solid shaving combination for those mornings where I absolutely don't have time to do a full three- or four-pass shave with my Parker or when travel requirements will limit the product selection I can bring with me.

I use a brush and a bowl for KMF. To me, it behaves like most of the other shaving creams that I've tried. Definitely a good lather.

Only tried it once so far and it seemed to turn to glue on my face and wouldn't lather well. Maybe I'll try in the bowl first and then move that method over to the face. I'm thinking it just needs a lot more water.

:w00t: Well I stand corrected - you do a get a heck of a lather out of it. :blushing:
I just personally never tried a brush since I ordered it along with some Alba cream and when I tried a brush with Alba I got no results so I assumed KMF was similar.
Brushed out, it looks a lot better, but on my face without a lather, I found it nothing better than 'ok'. I've pretty much stuck with soaps since.

That Alba stuff is utterly worthless. I tried to give it to my wife, and she won't even use it.

One pump right onto a wet brush. Face lather, good for 3 passes. YMMV ;)

I have the Lime version and use it as a superlather with GFT Limes soap, and I have a travel container of it that I use brushless when I travel.

My travel setup is KMF (used brushless) and a Sensor. Good, quick and moisturized shaves.

It takes quite a bit of water. For face lathering just leave a little more water in your brush and usual.

I've tried KMF brushless and the shave was decent, but they work much better with a brush. Very easy to lather and great on their own or in a superlather.

I put two pumps of KMF into a wet brush and face lather. Stuff just won't quit lathering and is as slick and thick as anything out there. If it cost three times as much and was only available by mail order, more people to try it.

Not crazy...just misguided by Alba!! :frown: I ordered them both from drugstore when I started looking for different creams. I tried Alba first and was sadly, sadly disappointed, so I assumed the KMF was of similar ilk and never tried to brush lather it...I see I was wrong.

I face lather with it...one full pump into the middle of an Omega Boar Brush and it lathers up nice and awesome.

+1 I like to bowl lather....1 pump into my bowl, whip it up with a wet brush, and I get enough nice lather for 4 passes with plenty to spare. About a half squirt onto your favorite puck soap gives a great super lather. The KMF scents are so subtle, they won't overpower or clash with anything else you use, but if it's still a concern, go with the unscented.
