I just discovered a really easy way to make excellent soft cooked eggs.
I just dropped a couple eggs and a little water into my steamer (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/411STHBM0NL._SL500_AA280_.jpg) and set it for 8 minutes.
They came out perfect!

Yum, I had 2 boiled eggs this morning and 1 slice of whole wheat toast plain.

That's good.

I usually poach them. Boiling water, salt, apple cider vinegar. Crack the egg and boil for 3 minutes. Middle will be soft and outside will be cooked. Never fails! The vinegar will keep the egg together.

I haven't had a soft-boiled egg in a loooong time. Guess I'll have to do it for breakfast tomorrow!

When we were living in Germany we used to do the typical German boiled egg all the time. The soft boiled egg is set into an egg cup. You crack and peel the top off and then using a small egg spoon you eat the egg right out of the shell.

Great start, what did you have for breakfast?....

I only say this as I love soft boiled eggs and generally start with 6.

This is exactly what I do.
I bought a few expresso spoons and an egg knocker (http://www.bakedeco.com/info/dispWin.asp?is=/images/large/01099.jpg)to make opening the egg quick and shell shard free.
Just set it on the tapered end of the egg, lift the weight and drop it and you have a perfectly opened egg.
Cut some wheat toast in strips for dipping and a cup of coffee and I'm ready to face the day.
