I'll start this one of with a quick shot of Monday's arrivals:

http://img.skitch.com/20091102-egpjj3kjrjfts6t2hxmjjssgwq.preview.jpg (http://skitch.com/christiancfriend/nf2fj/photo)
Click for full size (http://skitch.com/christiancfriend/nf2fj/photo) - Uploaded with plasq (http://plasq.com)'s Skitch (http://skitch.com)

Can anyone confirm if the Simfix label will require lacquering, or if it'll remain on it's own? I'm considering just letting it be and it'll go where it goes... but I kind of like the badge...

A few weeks ago, I bought a Blue Tip & a Slim Adjustable, and about 1 week later I bought an OS mug. I am just getting around to putting up the pics, but as promised here they are.

Credit must be given to my photographer wife for these.

The Blue Tip is a model A3, the Slim is a K2.

looking good, that blue tip looks to be in great nick.

It is in great shape. It didn't need much cleaning up, either. It was shiny in the antique store display case. And it shaves great! I have been using it for the last 2 weeks.

Sweet! There is just something special about shaving with an Old Spice Mug... takes a fellow back.

I thought it was a bit small at first, but I can't imagine using anything else now.

Here's my newest butterscotchery goodness (from dbay) - no maker's name engraved on it - but faintest of faintly "pure badger/made in England/<indecipherable."

http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr274/bythbook/butter1104093.jpg?t=1257380111 http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr274/bythbook/butter1104094.jpg?t=1257380136

the dbay listed it as a no-name; the pic wasn't very good, either. (this was part of a 3-brush lot - the other two have little potential for resto....) I was hoping this would be good enough to restore - no restoration is necessary! I've disinfected it and I'll use it tomorrow a.m..

Vital Statistics:
21mm knot
65mm handle
46mm loft

This feels good in the hand.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or guesses of its parentage.

thanks!

I was watching that lot. Passed on it though. See? Butterscotch karma man. We have that going on in our Butterscotch Wars
I'm surprised the brushes got to you so quickly. That's always a pleasant surprise.
Also, you're a tougher man than I for using those old bristles. None of the old brushes I've used have had hair that I can use. It's just too floppy, not dense enough, and often too sharp on the face. The weird thing is that my experience has been that pure is actually softer on the face than super or best equivalents in old brushes

this is actually quite nice... I should have put a battery or something in the pic to give some size perspective -this is quite a small brush.

I did use it this morning - experimented with a new soap, too, which is probably a mistake - too many variables for a fair assessment. Seems good, though.

Cleaned up this is a much nicer brush than I hoped for!

The Pils could never fit inside this pretty little case, but what a surprise to find a Pocket Edition with no splits on the handle! And I received it the same time as my receipt of this not-yet-in-the-US stainless steel Pils razor.

If my friend brings them into the country, I'm sure we'll be seeing quite afew more of them. Very cool, and incredibly heavy and well-balanced.

from richmondesi - a Kent BK4;

and...

http://i491.photobucket.com/albums/rr274/bythbook/110609brushes2.jpg?t=1257555660

just in from dbay (same lot, $6.62 plus postage).

vital stats:
the dbl duck 5 (sterilized/boar bristle/made in West Germany)

handle height: 86mm
loft: 75mm
knot: 31mm

the Gillette (Rubberset Trade Mark):

handle height: 31mm
loft: 46mm
knot: 12mm

Is the dubl duck a shaving brush??? It appears unused - and is very soft.

The Gillette is part of a Traveller kit, I believe - likely horsehair.

Both are sanitized... and ready to go!

Got a Henckels safety razor. Sadly the spring broke when I was cleaning it.
It seems that a Merkur would fit though.

Scored 2 tubes of C&O Bigelow Eucalyptus shaving cream from bath and body works. It was a great steal actually cause my wife found her Phyto shampoo on sale as well! Hurray for sales!

I've heard its Proraso stuff repackaged, is that right? What can you tell me about proraso?

You might get more responses in the shaving cream section, but, yes, C.O. Bigelow is Prorarso repackaged. I have the Bigelow stuff. It is really nice. I like the cooling feeling associated with the menthol, but it's not something I turn to every day.

I've been off the forums here for a while due to being unemployed and not having a reliable internet connection. Both of those have partially changed in the last few weeks and I must say it is good to be back.
But you do not care about that so much. at least, not in this section. You want ot know what I found today.

Well I was hitting up a local antique mall after a lunch at my favorite local brewery. The intent was to pick up a cute little moustache razor I had my eye on as a goof gift for one of my Movember team members (subtle plug, www.cityofremo.com). Of course, as these tend to happen I wandered around a bit and happened upon two very nice Sheffield razors in pretty dang good condition. A nice W&B in what seems to be a plastic rescaling. The scales are not worth keeping as the razor does not even clear the wedge, but I have pink ivory that should be perfect. and the one I really like, another Wolsty Pipe. other than some tarnishing on the spine and that nasty chunk out of the blade (time to watch some movies with my DMT XC) it is jaw-dropping in person. The best part, which I forgot to photo, is the matching coffin. the text is still legible and half the paint in the lettering is still there. Best of all it is complete with no holes.
I'm just tickled pink right now and it was worth putting off my already terribly overdue haircut until tomorrow morning for the find.

Got this from a guy on ebay that makes them, he goes by rbecker13. Cost $20.00 and he charges $10.00 to ship. That is a fair price for shipping beacuse USPS charged him that ammount to ship to my house in Ohio. I have been happy with the quality at less than 1/2 of the price for other well known scuttles.

Found this Cole slant at an antique show and cleaned up very nice! No polish yet and still want to hit the ridges at the base with a toothpick, but overall I was pleased. It gave a pretty nice shave today too!

Also found a New Standard and a New. The New Standard is much shinier than it appears in the pics, but the phone cam didn't seem to pick that up.

I have a K1 Slim adjustable from fleabay. It scrubbed up well and is a great shaver. It has nearly all of the paint in the numbers and adjusts well. I got it for $16.50, so I'm happy with the price also.
