As some of you might know I tried shaving with it using a hardware section glass scraping blade (they may look like a gem blade but don't get fooled) As it is the 1912 is a feral looking razor with it huge blade exposure and with the wrong blade will actually become feral, I know I tried it.

I obtained some right proper blades for it and wow what a difference. It's hard to have your angle wrong as the razor design forces you to angle it properly. It has so far delivered the closest 4 pass shave I've gotten from any of my razors I use 3 passes to shave & one pass for cleanup (search & destroy). Little to no buffing just careful slow passes. The shave was surprisingly comfortable, with plenty of audible feedback. With proper blades no matter how feral the razor looks it will deliver comfortable great shaves

Now that I know the beast can be tamed I will enter it into my rotation

I have the same handle on a slightly later head. Agree with your review but I just can't get as comfortable a feel as I can with a Super Speed. But then, I also just acquired the same razor you've got pictured - maybe it shaves differently. Haven't used it yet but will have to find out. EDIT: it could also be the Gem blades I used; I hear there are better SE blades to be had. What did you use? (besides utility blades) :D

I used the gem/personna available in the stores here

Must be my lack of technique then.

I have the 1924 version of Ever-Ready. Tried it once with a new Personna blade. After doing one cheek I switched razors!! Gave away the blades; kept the razor because my father had it. Don't plan on trying it again! Wish you guys all the luck in the world!!
