My wife brought in the mail today (it's been a few days) and there was a package from Joe Chandler. He sent a 4/8 full hollow Gotta with gold wash blade and really nice ivory celluloid scales. Wasn't expecting it so it REALLY blew me away! Yeah yeah I know, "useless without pics." I'll try to get those up tomorrow.

Well this one is not exactly post new years but it is the first time that I have had to post this.
I made a custom brush for my brother-in-law as a Christmas present and liked the profile of the handle so much that I had to make one for myself.
The handle is black palm (not stabilized) and the brush is a 28 mm knot overstuffed. Probably my favorite brush so far.
Wow! That's a sexy brush, Matt.

Thank you for the nice comments.
Jim,
Palm is one of the lighter woods that I work with (no where near as light as say black limba) but by changing where the weight is in the brush you can change the feel of the brush. I find this brush to be very comfortable.
I actually had a different handle (it was actually the first one that I made) on this brush head that was smaller. Due to the fact that the brush is overstuffed it was hurting my hand when lathering. So I did what any good woodworker would do. I cut it off and started over.  I have since changed my handle designs and the product is what you see on my website. All the handles are much nicer in shape and size.
I am very please with this design.

Lyrt,
That stuff looks very interesting. Are you going to review it?
There is already a review available here (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?ltr=K&t=8445). Kent's soaps are actually manufactured by Mitchell.

My leather British military roll-up bag arrived from QED yesterday. Wow, this thing is really well-made and handsome! I definitely recommend it.
And, of course, I also picked up another bottle of the Proraso splash. One can never get enough of that wonderful stuff...
Sorry for the stock photo, but I didn't have a chance to snap a live one.

Yup, it's zipper-free. The inside pouches close with snaps and the whole thing is secured with a buckle.

The I thought the shape was like the pawn in a chess set.
Now that you mention pawns I see that also, they are .17 caliber pellets for an air rifle,They come in a round nose version also that I did not have to photograph that are spot on to your brush-

Gents,
I took a walk during lunch today to a quirky shop that I like. This place carries Kent items, but today was different. Today the store had a close-out bin full of stuff, among it some seriously awesome new-old-stock Kent products. I went a little wild. I cleaned the place out. I worked myself into a frenzy and had what I can only describe as a Kentgasm!
Behold:
http://www.shavemyface.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10926/kent1.jpg
From top left:
KENT C802 Real Bristle Side-Burn Moustache & Beard Brush with original box, tag, and pouch (I figure this dates to the 1960s or 1970s)
KENT 81 moustache comb (tiny -- approx 2.75" long)
KENT Luxury Shaving Soap (aka Mitchell's Wool Fat)
KENT R17T hair pick (I figure this dates to the 1960s or 1970s)
KENT 77 hair pick (two of 'em -- the handles are virtually identical to the R17T)
And now ... some close-ups:
http://www.shavemyface.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10926/kent2.jpg
The other side, with the illustration, has type that faded in the sun over the years in the store's front window. The markings read: Real Bristle Side-Burn Moustache & Beard Brush. This side has some other fun stuff to read.
http://www.shavemyface.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10926/kent3.jpg
The back of the R17T hair pick's packaging. Note the awesome afro/perm at the bottom. This baby, like the moustache brush, was made entirely in Great Britain.
http://www.shavemyface.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10926/kent4.jpg
I'm assuming this soap has some good age on it. Note the black sticker. This is Mitchell's Wool Fat private labeled for Kent. It contains lanolin and bears similar information about animal safety.
KENTGASM!!!

Super nice Acura! Give us details man.
Super nice Acura! Give us details man.
Thanks!
That's the most representative pic I could find... my camera broke recently and I haven't gotten a replacement yet. My car is dark gray, not black.
It's an 07 Acura RDX in Carbon Grey Pearl w/ Ebony Interior.
It has the Tech package which includes navigation, a backup camera, bluetooth, voice control for just about everything, a 10-speaker surround sound system that plays dvd-audio and sport-mode shifting with paddle shifters. The interior looks like a cockpit.. it's got a lot of buttons for all that technology.
It's a great little truck -- hauls around all my stuff, but I can drive it like a sports sedan. It's got this nice aggressive growl when accelerating. I got it because it's practical and sporty in the same package. It's not the right vehicle for everyone, but it is for me.
I make excuses to go sit in it every once in a while.
