This one is for a member, and a lucky one at that. I hope he enjoys it!! It's one of the best looking razors I have ever seen.

I don't think I'd like shaving with a chopper that big... but I want it anyway because it's beautiful. The owner has a special piece there no doubt. :w00t:

Gents, I'm extremely proud to report this is my razor.
Although I've only recently discovered straights, I snagged this beast on looks alone and asked Russell if he'd perform his magic. Absolutely stunning work, my friend and I'm so lucky we live in the same town! You pick the venue for our next lunch - it'll be worth every penny! :001_smile

Oh, I thought I'd toot Russell's horn a bit more by sharing a few "before" photos. A handsome razor then, a stunning razor now:

One of the best looking razors I've seen in a long time:w00t:
If that was 6/8 it would be perfect:wink2:

Funny you say that. I have a 6/8 W&B I am working on now. Look for it in the BST in a week or so.
Thanks for the comments everyone. Bill, you will enjoy this one no doubt, it looks brand new save for a few spots not worth taking out on the tang. You can still see the original grind marks and everything. I am on the hunt for one of these now.

ebaY. I set my max price early (which I never do) and never thought it would stick. It did.
This one just killed me:

Hmmm... that reminds me, I have a W&B waiting to be honed...
I'll give her a spin through the stones in the next couple of days so that she can enter my daily rotation.

Wow!!! That is some beautiful work there Aquanin.
Wish I had captured that razor first. W&Bs are one of my absolute favorites and a big guy like that is amazing. Excellent job restoring that razor.

Well congratulations, and it looks like sending it to Aquanin was a good decision, too.

Indeed it was. Had lunch with Russell yesterday where he hand delivered the razor. It's more beautiful in person and I'm excited to give it a go. As Russell said, be ready to get a workout - quite a bit more hefty than your average blade!
Thanks again, Russell!

No problem Bill. What you didn't mention was that you had to wrestle it away from me. I only cried a little when I had to give it back to you.

I'm spoiled. Here I am with less than 10 straight shaves under my belt and most of my learning has been with this beautiful razor. Perhaps it's because I have little experience with any other blade, but the heft of the W&B is superb and to me, very easy to handle. As with my heavy DEs, its weight makes the stroke easier and more confident.
Thanks again, Russell. I'm glad we're still friends after I took it away from you! :tongue_sm
