new razor, needs honing

hi, i just got a vintage razor for christmas. i believe it is a
butler, which is from sheffield, england. i thought it would be best
to get the razor honed professionally the first time around, as i
figure i should learn how to strop and shave with one of these things
before i go and mess up the blade by doing something stupid like
honing it myself.

i've read that some of you fine folks might be willing to hone the
thing into perfection for the price of shipping and a little bit of
money for your time.

the razor is old, probably turn of the century or before, so i hope it
still CAN be honed... i don't know much about this stuff. any
suggestions or help will be much appreciated.

by the way--i am in seattle, so to keep the price of shipping the
thing back and forth down, it would be great if the lovely honer would
be on the west coast as well. thanks!

got a picture of your new razor? like to see a close up of the blade. you should note if there are any cracks or slight chips in the blade as that will make a large difference in the honing job someone will do...that is assuming there isn't something very wrong with it.

shipping a razor in the us isn't bad at all. close it, wrap it in bunch of newspaper and put it into a small box or even bubble wrap pouch if you have a razor box ....either way standard first class ground mail to anywhere in the US should only run you about $2.25

I live in Washington State and would glady hone your razor. I only would ask for the cost of return shipping. I would like to see a few pics first just to see what you have. If I would need to do more than just honing it would be a bit more. But as you can see I work pretty resonable.

Turn of *which* century? Some razors are *really* old, and if they honed up fine back and are still in half-decent condition then they'll hone up just fine now.
