Received today :w00t:

50 BIC chrome platinum Blades
no-name brand 3 piece safety razor (from India)
Gillette 7 O'Clock safety razor

Was great recieving these in the post but I am :frown: at the same time as it means that I only have a boar brush on its way.
Now that I am a penny pincher I must severely limit my purchases

British made fat handled Tech in a US box.

The lid of the blade holder is stamped with Gillette which is a first for me. I have several similar blade holders, but none of them is stamped, so that's nice :001_smile

I just scored on Ebay a vintage Gillette travel safety razor with case for a grand total of $8.09 delivered! I'm not sure the year. The condition looks awesome! Here is a link:

It's a 1964 gold plated Gillette Aristocrat Adjustable 1-9 razor! This one will probably only be used on very special occasions and will have a life in a display case. Man I like those adjustable razors......

Ok here are some pics:

The first is a Travel Gillette DE razor. The code on the bottom is K 4.

Irisch Moos shave stick.

Just received today, courtesy of ctakim's thoughtful shopping on his recent trip to Germany.

I haven't shaved with it yet, but man, does it smell good!

It won't be considered "cheating" if I use this during the Tabactober festival, will it?

Gearing up for a genuinely wrong Czech and Speake order this week as well.

Both processed by USPS on the 5th, one in Pa, one in Wisc.

Both arrived in Texas today--on the 2nd day.

We are pretty quick to savagely beat USPS when they screw up. I am going to give them their props when they do good.

And cousin, they did good today.

I just got this vintage butterscotch/pumpkin brush. I'm showing it next to my '54 SuperSpeed for scale. The handle is solid and feels like acrylic. It's heavier than the razor . The knot is at least 22mm and the loft is about 45mm.
There are no markings on it.
I'm going to re-knot it with a Golden Nib 2-band finest.

Out of curiousity, does anyone have any idea who would have made it?

Double Duck Professional Use Only Made in Germany. That's what it says on the bottom.

Anyone have any idea of age or bristle type?
I was going to re knot it but I kid of like the stiff bristles and it's in pretty darn good shape except for the bottom on the handle which shows sign of wear. Going to give it a swirl round the soap in the morning.

Here's what I got this week:

I actually got the Nomad last week, but didn't have time to post. I shredded half of the cake and put it into the bowl. So far, I like the Nomad. I seem to be able to get lather more quickly than with my VDH Deluxe. Incidentally, my Dad made the bowl years ago when he was just getting into bowl turning. It's made of spalted maple I believe and I'm glad to be able to put it to use.

I will probably try the Bigelow over the weekend.

The blades are from West Coast (sampler) and I think I will start with the Derby's.

Have a great weekend

I haven't posted in The Score for quite a while, but that doesn't mean I have stopped adding new razors to my collection  Actually, I have been scoring so many that they, litteratly, have been piling up on my desk, eargerly awaiting cleaning and photographing.
I have dedicated this weekend to get to the bottom of this pile-o-goodies. Here is what I managed to clean and snap pics. of today before the light became too dim:

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e259/Jakobeep/Vintage/Wermacht_razor_01_02.jpg
German WWII Wermacht razor in zinc-alloy, wery light with no plating. Came in a big lot of razors I scored on-line for almost nothing. This razor wasn't even on the auction picture so it was quite a nice suprise to find it in the package! (Please, let's not get political over this)

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e259/Jakobeep/Vintage/No_Name_Imperial_02.jpg

Another poor-condition, but shaveworthy, Gillette ball-end Old Type. These razors seem to have been extremely popular here in Denmark. May go into my pif-pool

Brit. ball-end alu-handle Gillette Tech. Nicer than the one I already had. The old one goes to the pif-pool

Stay tuned tomorrow for more blatant showing off. A little spoiler; the most beautiful razor ever produced in Denmark, a bakelite boxed bakelite Merkur and a boxed rhodium 66 + a lot more :001_smile

These from a Yard Sale. The elderly lady said her husband loved the one on the bottom. As her memory recalled he couldn't get blades to fit the head so he swapped the head out. she said the original head looked like the old type or as she put it(the one with the comb sides).

Well not sure if Gertrude would have enjoyed this Bulgarian Rose after shave from Saint Charles Shave. It is a wonderful scent and quite a moisturizing and nourishing lotion.

I also scored this unusual single ring Rocket. Seems to be the same weight as the HD, but it is a variation on the usual handle design. It came from France, so perhaps this razor is actually the 1957 French Monobloc #55. Regardless it seems to enjoy the aroma of this Bulgarian rose scent.

http://www.penhaligons.co.uk/images/product/main/Castile-edt-spray-m.jpg - £25 (well 2 for £50, but my mate bought the other half of the deal)

http://www.penhaligons.co.uk/images/product/main/846615R.jpg - £8

Both bought from here if anyone in the UK is interested --> http://www.bicestervillage.com/en_GB/

The W&B and the Durham Duplex seems to have had similar handles actually.

Will it appears Durham-Duplex bought out Wade and Butcher in New York.

In 1921 the American company Durham-Duplex bought W & S B and used it for the production of their safety razors as well as other forms of cutlery.

I believe then their handles are the same.

Jakob, that is one beautiful #66 Sir.

Brit. J1 (1964? - seems a little early, but maybe the Brit. Date codes are diffrent?) Gillette Knack

Now I am off to the fleamarket. More razors later.

I have one of these. It was my first Safety razor I bought with my own money. Mine was made in England with a date code of O-4. I've been curious to how old mine is. But it looks identical to what you have. I can't even remember when I bought it. I think I was in the Army when I did and I picked it up at a Walgreens down in Killeen, Texas. Pretty sure that was the circumstances of picking this razor up. I would guess yours isn't that old. I'd probably take that to the bank and cash it. I know mine is probably from the 1980's or 1990's. I'm leaning towards mine being from the 1990's.

I did not know that, thank you for the info.

Yes, the 66 is quite a beauty - it is in almost perfect condition.

I am not quite sure either.
