what would some of you recommend in boxer shorts as far as comfort.

I typically prefer Boxer Briefs for wear in my uniform and daily wear, but I wear boxers with looser fitting jeans when I'm feeling very casual. I'd say it really depends on what you wear (outer garments) most often.

I find loose fitting trousers better with boxer shorts.

If you want the best comfort try this combination:

Boxer Shorts and "Gusset" Pants.

Discovered Gusset Pants a few years ago.

What a difference!!!

I really like the Lands End boxers made from shirt cloth. They hold up extremely well and are very comfortable. You can get them at Sears or online. The plain ones (white or blue) are a 3 pack and the patterned ones are sold separately.

i recently got into boxer briefs when i got my first pair of under armour boxer briefs. they don't ride up. they hug the thighs without constricting them. and they provide as much support as a jock strap without squashing anything. i use them in place of compression shorts when i exercise because they're cheaper than compression shorts but do the exact same thing.

I like ExOfficio and Under Armour boxer briefs. However, I've found a decent, inexpensive alternative in Champion's Active Fit boxer briefs. Light, form fitting, no chafing. For me, anyways.

This is what I use, as well. Boxer briefs all the way.

Best I've found yet is Brooks Bros. full cut oxford cloth. They last forever.

The bi-annual sale is just after X-mas, by the way, and there is a nice discount if you buy more than four, if I recall correctly.

Land's End.

I have had Wal-Mart "George" brand shorts and Land's End. Land's End are very comfortable tight-weave cotton. Aside from solid silk, there's really not much to say about underwear; when it's comfortable it's comfortable.

Someone will inevitably recommend Polo or Dockers or something else that's just decent quality non-spectacular non-crap, it's all in the same category. You buy something that costs $12 a 3-pack instead of $8 a 3-pack and you're good.

I recently picked up two pairs of the BB boxer shorts. They were on sale at 50% off which means they were still $9 each. However, they are extremely comfortable and thicker than many of the other shorts that I have which I appreciate. It is also obvious that these shorts will easily last 10+ years just because the material is more substantial.

I also recently bought some Hanes 'Premium' boxer shorts. The materials is thinner that the BB and the fit is a little weird. They pull in some way from the rear when I move just so, but the most annoying this is that they are snug around the thighs while fitting just fine elsewhere (and I certainly don't have large legs). I guess I could try the next size but then the waist would a little loose and I'm afraid there would be too much fabric.

I recently picked up a couple of pairs of classic boxers, done by Liberty of London for Target. Good fabric, two-button closure at the waist, a button closure on the fly, and the usual Liberty prints. As I remember, they were $5-6 each. They've been washed a couple of times with no shrinking. A good deal for the price ...

Depends on what I am wearing.

I still like to feel a bit of "restraint".

So with Dockers or dress pants I go with boxer briefs.

With jeans I will go with regulation boxers.

Joe Boxer makes a nice boxer made from brushed cotton. Very comfortable.

For boxer briefs I prefer the trunk cut from Calvin Klein or Prodige. Mostly because they have a low rise waistband. Just can't wear underwear where the waistband comes up to the navel. I shave like an oldman, but I don't want old man underwear.

Ralph Lauren Modal boxers or boxer briefs. They are made of "modal" instead of cotton, which is something spun from beechwood, I guess. I picked up a pair at TJ Maxx, and they are the softest, most comfortable underwear I've had. They are also extremely "moisture wicking" for those sticky summer days. I actually ended up going back and buying about 10 more pair. Most internet searches show them upwards of $20 per pair, but I got mine for 6 or 7 bucks at TJ Maxx.

I prefer Calvin Klien boxer briefs because I like the support and traditional boxers bunch underneath my suit pants.

I've been looking at these, anyoen have experience with the Duluth Trading company boxers? Other then being $20 a pair?

I don't have any experience with these, but the Ralph Lauren boxers I recommended are very similar. They also feel like you're wearing nothing, as the Duluth advertisement claims.

I was in Target on Sunday and they had these on sale for < $4. They are super comfortable. Terrific value.

A word of caution on Brooks Brothers' boxers:

They have (at least) two different fabrics, but don't do a real good job of letting you know what you are getting unless you are paying close attention.

They have cotton broadcloth and they have a thicker 'pima' cotton weave. Both are nice so you can't really go wrong, but you need to pay close attention to make sure you get what you think you are getting.

I always get 100% cotton, and always the fullest cut I can find....lots of new evidence supporting the theory that tight fitting shorts traps heat in the groin area and contributes or even is a cause of testicular cancer...

Another fan of Brooks Brothers. They are the fullest cut commonly available. Do get the oxford cloth though, which is similar to the fabric of their classic button downs. They do last a long time. I have found their other fabrics to fray after about a year of wear. Personally, I wear them with jeans as well as kahkis, wool, shorts etc... with no issues, but I can't stand "briefs" of any kind. Give me liberty (for my boys) or give me death!

Brooks has 2 sales a year, in mid-July and after Christmas. But they always have deals on boxers (and shirts) if you buy in multiples of 3.

Cityboxers.com. I have several pairs from them and they are nice. Different fabrics available and custom fitting. They take a few weeks to process your order because they make them to your specifications.

The fitted boxers at Brooks Bros. are wonderful. Getting your waist size instead of S, M, L is terrific. I also have a few pairs from J. Crew that are excellent.

No fancy name here! I wore boxer briefs for a few years, but I had a hard time finding a pair that wasn't too tight, or too loose which defeats the purpose.

I started looking at boxers and found some Hanes Knit Boxers. They are made from a material that is similar to the boxer briefs, but the waist band isn't an uncomfortable elastic. Everything about them is SOFT!!!! The still fit like boxers and give you a bit of room, and the stretch comfortably when you move. I love these and plan to keep wearing them!

Can't these companies come up with better names.

Also, what's with the PC on one hand and not so PC on the other?

I mean if they are selling Fresh Breasts should the one for men be call Fresh Scrotum?

I picked up my first pair of modal boxer briefs just recently, though they are Calvin Klein; they were on sale at macys.com for 12.99, and I figure that was worth paying to try them. None of the department stores here carry anything in modal.

Anyhow, the fabric is amazingly soft. Unfortunately, though, these CK's do not provide a "functional" fly.

I had been wearing Ralph Lauren button fly boxer briefs for years, and some of them have finally begun giving up the ghost. I am currently keeping my eye out for good prices on the two Ralph Lauren modal options.

Who would have thought that I would find an underwear thread at B&B? I am glad I did though. I have been wearing FOTL and Hanes boxers for the past 25 years or so. Growing up, I wore briefs, because that is what mom always bought. When I joined the Army, I was issued my first pair of boxer shorts, and haven't worn briefs since. Although FOTL and Hanes have served their purpose, I have never been completely satisfied. The material is thin, bunches up, and wears out quickly. I guess you get what you pay for. I am looking forward to purchasing some Brooks Brothers traditional fit boxers during their after Christmas sale. :001_smile

I love me some Gold Toe boxers. I got a couple of pair at a Gold Toe outlet store in Missouri while on vacation a couple of years ago, just on a whim. When I got home and started wearing them, I really enjoyed the feel. Couldn't find them locally anywhere, so I called up the outlet store and ordered 8 pair to replace some rapidly deteriorating Polo boxers. Since then, I have ordered another 10 pair to keep in reserve. They are full cut and not made of oxford cloth - more of a smooth 100% cotton plaid cloth which can be worn with any pants - and they are just the ticket for me. I hope to never be out of them again.
