Hello All!

I am getting married this Halloween  and have yet to decide on gifts for my 7 Groomsmen. I have been scouring the internet for ideas and there seems to be a consesus that humidors may be good gifts even for the non-smokers (as decoration). I was wondering if any of you cigar aficionados happened to have any ideas as to an affordable humidor that will serve the intended purpose. I was planning on keeping my budget under $60 dollars so this is probably going to be quite a challenge...Any thoughts or advice?? Thanks in advance!

PS - I'm open to suggestions for other gentlemanly gifts as well!!!

Personally if it was me, I would give me groomsmen something more practical like a nice pocketknife for each of them. That is what my uncle did several years ago and I thought it was an excellent idea because it is something everyone can use. Humidors might be nice, but if you don't smoke it's just going to sit on some desk or bookshelf collecting dust.

Don't get a humidor for guys that don't smoke cigars, especially if you're only going to spend $60 on each one. It's possible to find a quality humidor but don't bother with it, get something else that's nice (the pocket knife is a good idea).

You could probably buy some pipes and have some type of lettering done on the stems at the least...

I realize giving you other suggestions isn't necessarily what you asked for. Anyway, I'd look at Tampa Humidors, like someone else linked, also bargainhumidors and cheaphumidors seem to be pretty good. I bought one from bargainhumidors and made an offer for one of their closeouts, got it for about $25 less.

I agree - if they don't smoke much, they collect dust. A nice pocketknife or pen would work.

pen would work

+1, I hadn't thought about pens, great idea.

I agree that a humidor is probably not good for non-smokers. And even for smokers, they are usually a very personal choice. They may want to spend more than $60, or may not like the style you choose.

If you want a smoking-related item, a quality lighter might be nice. For non-smokers, a nice gentleman's knife as mentioned above. Even if they already own these, you can never have too many lighters or knives.

ETA: Here's a site (http://www.kershaw-knives.net/Kershaw-Ken-Onion-Scallion-KS1620GRN.htm) that has a big assortment of Ken Onion Kershaw knives, many within your price range. They also do engraving for $4.95. I have the red scallion (on the site), which is a nice size for pocket carry.

ETA2: Here's a site (http://www.elighters.com/lighters.html) that has a nice assortment of lighters that also does engraving.

Well heck, a lighter would work even if you're a non-smoker. They may not quite get the same amount of use, but they're always useful to have around.

(well, unless, of course, your name happens to be blackfoot. then, you might not want to be around for all the use it would get :whistling:)

When I got married, I got all of my groomsmen nice nickel plated flasks...
They were a HIT, they all showed up at my wedding packing those things filled with who-knows-what.

Needless to say, they loved them, and it made the reception pretty wild as well!

I received a nice Mont Blanc pen from my best friend at his wedding. At my other friend's wedding I received a cool Spyderco knife. I still use both gifts.

I've thought about giving my groomsmen flasks and telling the bartenders not to serve them, so whatever they can fit in the flask is their allotment for the night. This would save me cash on the bar tab, and save them a lot of embarrassment.

But, is the pen really sharper than the, um, knife?

I recently got married, and I got my groomsmen glass tankards with their names and "groomsman" engraved on them. (this one exactly, actually)

http://www.thingsremembered.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TRproduct_10001_9951_582117__3001_%20?catId=3736&IWTSM=0&occasionId=10204

I gave them to them at the rehearsal dinner. The bachelor's party was the next day, and it involved beer and cigars at the best man's place. Everyone loved it. It wasn't expensive. And the best man got me one to match the next day as a surprise.

What man doesn't like beer? I can think of several who don't keep a stock of cigars, but none who never drink beer.

I gave all my ushers (same thing as groomsmen) gold-plated Polo Trac II handles with their initials engraved in them. 25 years later (almost), and many of them are still in use. Why not give out some nice gold Merkur HDs with initials engraved in the top?

I received a beautiful set of cufflinks from a friend when I MC'd his wedding. I like the pocketknife idea too. A nice fountain pen might also fit the bill.

If you wanted to keep a cigar theme, I'd recommend a case over a humidor:

http://www.famous-smoke.com/xikar+envoy+leather+3+cigar+case/item+26093?Nav=1000136%204294966992&Ne=1000135

I've seen these in person, and they're absolutely beautiful . . . fill them with three nice cigars each and you'll still probably come in around your $60 mark.

The metal top can be engraved, as well.

Many good ideas posted already: I'll toss out another suggestion. You can pick up some nice money clips and have them engraved with their initials. It should cost 30 to 60 bucks.

+1 that's what I did I had them monogrammed as well and they were very popular. Of the groomsmen who married after me all have chosen similar gifts.

Alright all! I took your advice and went the route of something I believe everyone can use. Thank you all for your help! Special thanks to Mazeman, gollum83, and Austin because I ended up going with a Kershaw Ken Onion Leek Knife - I found great prices on ebay (the price was so good I had to get one for myself as well). I hope they like the knives! Thanks again gents!
