I just got my new 1.5 Dirtybird scuttle in Blue glaze and mint 54 SS Flare tip in the mail yesterday. The scuttle is outstanding. I finally got the kind of lather I have been reading about. The circular ridges in the bowl seemed to be a great agitator and creating the lathe was effortless using Proraso and my Shavemac Silvertip 23mm. It kept my lather and brush warm for 4 passes and could have gone for more.

The 54 Flare tip seems to be just what I am looking in terms of aggressiveness. For me it has the perfect weight, feel and size. The only problem I had last night seemed to be with the blade I was using. I have a sampler pack I have been working through and decided to give a Treet Platinum a try. Whoa... was that a mistake. I have never gotten so many nicks in my entire shaving life. I am really thinking the blade was defective. I got nicks on the flat parts of my cheeks, and that has never happened to me before ever ... with a DE or cartridge. Needless to say (so why am i saying it ) I will not be finishing my 5 pack of Treets.

Has anyone else ever experienced this? Visually the blade edges looked fine. I am really hoping it's not an issue with the razor itself. The next shave will be with a feather. Those seem to be my baseline blades.

I'd bet it's the scuttle! You should send it to me for... testing.

But seriously, Treets seem to be pretty hit-and-miss (and by that I mean more miss than hit). The only type of theirs for which I've seen consistently favorable reviews is the Trig. If you didn't like the one, don't bother with the rest for a while.

Make sure you have a good, close look at the blade gap of the new razor too. Make sure it's nice and even. Might want to do that before you load up a feather and go at your face.

It sounds like what happens if the blade is loose for some reason. Make sure the TTO knob is fully cranked down.

Good suggestions, I will check out the gap and make sure the TTO knob is cranked down.
