Hello all,

I found this Valet Auto Strop in one of my local haunts, it looks to be unused and I think it is a complete set. The box contains the razor with paper blade insert, horse hide strop, 10 blades and all instructions. I don't think the blades are original but, there are 10 in the box. I see these all over the place and they seem to be a dime a dozen. I know that they are not worth much and I only paid $5.99 for this one, however, I have not see any in this condition and thought I pass it along just for fun.
Thanks for looking.

P.S. sorry for the quality of the pics, I am at work and do not have my regular camera with me.

Nice looking set! Congratulations.

Coincidentally, I picked up a boxed Valet this past weekend, too - different box, though. Pic from my post on The Score:

Nice score Brent, I am always amazed at the number of different boxes used to house the same razor.

The cardboard ones are kind of the "cheapies". Valet also had a range of cased razor sets, similar to Gillette. Which isn't surprising, since Gillette bought them out. Not sure when. Maybe the 30s or 40s.

Edited to add: Actually, I think the cardboard boxes are more collectible as they're less likely to survive than the hard cases.

Very nice score. The Valet razors seem to hold up nicely with time but not so for the strops. Your strop looks to be in great shape. I have the same set and have actually had two not so great shaves with it. I also have 6 or 7 new blades still sealed in their yellow wrappers. Even if you don't try shaving with it, it's still fun owning this part of shaving history.

I don't think I will use it, I thought about passing it along to someone who is into single edge stuff.
