HELP What to Buy? English Fern or...

I have a chance to buy either a puck of old formula english fern and blenheim bouquet or one of those soaps and the cologne...what should I get?

English Fern soap is undergoing a reformulation. If tallow is the first ingredient on the box, it's considered golden around here. No one knows how good the "new" version of EF is yet. The scent is popular, though some think it's like Irish Springs.

Having said that, my two cents is: get the EF regardless. BB is nice, but it's better as a cream. And if you have EF, you're pretty much set in soap from Penhaligon.

Then I'd get a cologne. That part is also subjective, though I'm partial to Endymion, BB and Duoro. And Castille. And.. hell, get samples!

To answer your question, I don't know about the scent of BB, but I was told that it's in the same area as GFT Wellington. In that case, I'd pick EF which is among my favorite scents. Plus it's a great performer

You won't regret it.

If you don't care for the "green" scent, you can easily recoup your expense buy selling it here.

Exactly get both soaps, I happen to love them both. You can pick up the colognes later on.

To my nose, the scents are very different, and I'm not sure how well they would blend. Scent alchemy is a mysterious thing :wink:.

Why get the cologne now? You can get the cologne anytime. The old formulation soaps will only be around for a certain amount of time. You should get both while you can, and get the cologne of the one you like later. Its a no loss situation, you get to try both old formula soaps, find which you like better, buy the matching cologne, and sell the one you don't like on here (which will take less than 5 min, you've already got 5 offers for a soap you don't even own. :wink:) for what you paid, and probably more as its getting extremely hard to find. However, you will like both soaps, there will be not problems there. Penhaligon's is primo stuff, and you can still get the cologne later. :drool:
