Trouble setting your bevel?
Stainless razors getting you down?
Modern "hard" steels putting a crimp in your style?
Wedges making you cry?
Well my friends, take a gander at my newest addition: 11.5" of 1200 grit steel removal glory!
Pictured next to, and dwarfing, my old, trusty 6x2 1200, and a Gold Dollar that is soon to take a trip up and down the DMT11E later today....
I already took a nice vintage wedge that had some edge chipping, and swoosh, swoosh, swoosh....that baby came around in no time!

I would say you need to be care full with DMT'S.
First Dmt's must be brake in before using it.
Second. Time goes on and they loose diamond( after using 6 months it is almost gone . depends how many razor you sharp a day)
Must be dried after every use.
Will better add dish soap to dmt while you hone.
Good side of DMT's
very very fast cutter
puts nice bevel in short time period

Hmmm. Well, that 6x2 1200 plate is over a year old, I've used it on many Ebay restores, especially wedges, and even used it alot when trying to sharpen my Seraphim Seramix ceramic razor, and it still is a very fast and efficient cutter. I have not noticed a drop off in performance. It is the Rockler woodworking house brand plate, not a DMT.
I fully agree that you must break in the DMTs before using them on a razor.

The DMT 1200 is my go to hone for bevel setting. Quick, and works great.

I didn't know that, I'm looking for one right now.
If I may ask, how do you break them in and how can you tell they're ready for a razor?

Take a chisel (or other hardened steel tool- screwdriver shaft, etc...) and lay it flat on the hone, and go nuts on it, back & forth until the finish it is left with is no longer matte, but a bit shiny. You don't need to press down hard or anything, just back and forth for a while.

Thanks, this is really good to know.

Hopefully the break in process goes (or went) quickly for that monster Seraphim!
My DMT D8X took literally days to break in! Although on the bright side, I do have several screwdrivers with nicely textured shafts
