I did some reasearchs and couldn't find anything. I'm sure there must be someone in Oz doing restorations.

What I need is not an exact restoration but more changing the scales on two of my straights. One of them has a crooked side and the point rubs on the inside of the scale. Another one is cracked.

I'm careful with them and they are not criticals yet but I would like them to be fixed one day.

I could always buy the supplies myself and do it but only if it requires very basic tools and it's simple. If there's a step-by-step guide on how to do it.

All I want is nice basic, solid, scales. Nothing too fancy.

Thanks for the info gents. I had a look at SRP and the process of repinning the scales seems easy. I'm unsure where I could do it as I don't own an anvil or equivalent.

As they are not due now, it might not be a problem. As I also see, it seems that I will need to pick-up specific scales for a 5/8 and a different set for a 6/8.

It seems that http://www.knivesaustralia.com.au sells replacement scales(and a few straights). I'm unsure if they offer a service to change them, I doubt it. Also, I am not associated with the above website...

I will probably do it when the razor will be unusable or when it will need to be honed.

I second onimura. His service and workmanship is excellent. He does restoration, fixes, and honing I believe (the razor I purchased from him was honed to perfection).

For sure.

It's a great site, specific to straight razors and there's a ton of info in the SRP Wiki. Many B&B members are also members there.
