Just saw this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=018&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=280060918405&rd=1&rd=1) close on Ebay. Curious if anybody knew anything about it. Distinctive looking. Although I don't think that is real MOP, but maybe.
Also, anybody know what that type of point is called? I've not seen anything like it.
Finally, note the seller..... Oddly, his straights seem more reasonable priced (after all, a number of people thought it worth bidding on) than his DEs.

Holy moses! I clicked on the link, and lo and behold...I won the auction! I bid on this razor last night, and completely forgot about it. Thanks for the heads up! :biggrin1:

That's just funny. Enjoy it. I'll be curious to hear how it shaves.

You'll have to wait a while -- it's my first straight. I'll likely send it out to get honed and shave ready.

The point is called a french point. It's mostly found on 3/8 and 4/8 sizes (where it's an extremely, maybe even the most common tip). Every now and then you find it on bigger razors. I've got a 5/8 depews with that tip, and a 6/8 Williams with it as well.

Thanks for the info. I had also been wondering what a French point was. Nice to have two questions answered at once.
I am starting to have a fondness for the look of French and Spanish points over the round and square. A little more visually interesting.

That's crazy. Neat as anything. Not really my style. But mighty interesting. And a great piece of work. I love it.

seems reynoldsart is branching out to straights. I'll wait to hear for customers reviews of his straights before I venture a bid.

FWIW That didn't seem a bad price for that straight, even from Reynoldsart. It looks to be in great shape. One of my favorite straights has a French Point. Sortof a mix of the advantages of a spike and a round point IMHO
Let us know how that goes

Yeah, I was surprised. He had several straights up, although this was the only one I was terribly interested in. For some reason, they were all quite reasonable priced. Maybe he figures there are not as many suckers in the straight razor market? Don't know.
But I am looking forward to hearing how this one shaves.

HURRY MAN! HURRY!
Seriously, no worries. I'll have forgotten in a day or so. But do report back in when you finally get it back from whoever who get to hone it, and actually have a go with it.
