View Full Version : Problem with Shaving cream lather?

Today was the first day I used the Nancy Boy sample from Scotto.
I must say that it was not the best of experiences. I was also using a new Israeli Personna with a Merkur HD.

The blade was simply gliding over my beard and not doing a good job with stubble reduction with the Nancy boy

After 2 passes I changed to the old reliable Proraso shaving cream and salvaged my shave with an additional 2 passes. The blade worked much better with Proraso and was actually very smooth.

Any idea what the problem could be. It was the first time I have experienced this... problem with water cream ratio?

My guess would be the water to cream ratio. It is important to realize, however, that the Nancy Boy will have different qualities than your other creams. Part of the issue could be you having high expectations in an area of performance that this cream simply can't live up to.

I did not have a good experience either, I think it may take less water to do the trick

with Nancy Boy, I start out with very little water (just what's on my brush, which has been shaken out, and the damp bowl), and add a few drops at a time while I whip it up. Eventually you have a very nice, thick, slick lather.
