Gillette w/Cover Stamped Code

Hi Folks, I'm new to the forum.

When did Gillette stamp the covers with the Date Code?

I came across one that is a TTO with a Tiny H4 stamped on the top cover.

H4 would be fourth quarter 1962.

I've just never seen the stamp on the top of the cover before. I've seen them underneath so it was just different to me.

Could you post a picture? Not sure what you mean by "on the cover". I've never seen dates codes on the silo doors (on a twist to open) or on the blade cap on the three-piece razors.

It may be a 1987 model. I seem to remember seeing one of the late model G1000, G2000 or G3000 razors with a date code under the doors or cap on the guard plate. Either that or I am just going senile.

I'll post a pic just got internet back running.

The date code is on the top cover near the edge of the door were it closes shut. I'll try putting ink on it because it's so tiny, I had to ask my wife to look at it because I thought at first when I was cleaning it it was a scratch. After getting it cleaned it's diffidently an H4 stamp.

I got it and after a big magnifying glass it looks like someone put an initial on it or just got lucky dropping three times and made an H.

It's pre-51 I think, no numbers under the guard.
