This one is for a forum member. This beautiful, huge Dovo 7/8 had sad, plain black scales on it. He wanted the traditional shape and let me do the rest. This one is Amboyna Burl with black spacer and turquoise wedge finished with Epoxy Resin/CA. The pins are stacked brass and stainless with nickel silver pins to match the gold wash on the blade. Here you go:

All I can say is WOW! If this looks half as good in person as it does in these pics, I am going to have minor heart palpitations every time I pull it out to shave. The Amboyna burl is stunning. The black backing for the amboyna is perfect with the spider vein turquoise. The spider vein from the turquoise looks like they were specifically put there to melt into the black backing.
Wow, can hardly wait to get that puppy shaving!

This is why I'm very, very scared about recently purchasing my first straight. Will I have any control? Beautiful work, Sir!! :001_smile

OK, I have to say. This one shaves better than almost any razor I have ever tried. Wow. Seriously amazing. Shaves like a wedge, but its hollow.

That is my favorite wood of all time. Having been doing a bunch of re-scaling myself and love to see the beauty that emerges as you work it. Because it is a burl, do you line the inside of the scales of is it a pretty stable wood to work. I haven't used this wood yet and would like to know how it works and what finish you use.
Thanks

Not to make your head any bigger then it already is :001_tt2: J/K

But I have been studying this thing. It is very regal! You know it sort of looks like some really really good air brushed flames. The cool part is it is not air brushed.

One of the most beautiful razors I've seen:w00t:

The wood/turquoise is a classic with knives and looks gorgeous on a straight!

Absolutely stunning!
I just see one pin on the scales around the pivot. Did you use glue for the opposite end and the wedge?

Inspiring work!

I have been inspired too and I don't even have that beauty back in my hands yet. I am seriously looking around to see what I might want to have Aquanin work on next. Need to find something worthy of his skills. Maybe a big Wosty with a worked back and etched eagle on the blade would be the right choice.

Well, OK. Now I am really bowled over. This is one of the most beautiful works of art I have seen in a while. There is no detail that has not been paid attention to. The Amboyna burl is finished to perfection. The stacked pins are perfect. The wedge is even more beautiful than the pictures. The wedge is perfectly finished so that it looks like an integral part of the scales. AMAZING!
Finally, the blade came back with a hone that is great too. I thought this blade was sharp before. It is killer now.
I am going to have to use it on a Friday night which is totally against my shaving religion. Can't wait to feel the balance watch this beauty in the mirror while I shave!
