After becoming fed up with razor burn and the exorbitant prices of cartridge razors, I went online to find a better alternative. With not too much research I discovered the benefits of wet shaving and using a safety razor. I ordered a Weishi gunmetal razor, a blade sampler pack, a badger brush with stand and bowl, Mama Bear soap, and bought some Old Spice aftershave. I am still waiting for the brush and soap, but I decided I would start using the new razor since I was out of cartridges. I just had my second shave and I can already tell a great difference, just with using normal Gillette shaving cream. With both shaves I did three passes, two WTG, and one ATG, with no problems. No nicks, no cuts, and best of all no razor burn. On top of that it is the smoothest my shave has ever been. There are a couple of spots under my jaw that could be closer, and this did take 20 minutes both times, but I figure enough practice and even that will even out. I'm currently using a dorco blade, but plan on rotating through the sampler pack I have to see what works best. Just wanted to make sure I thanked you guys for this forum and shared my experience. This place made it real easy to convince me to start using this method, and I can't wait to get my brush and soap to have the full wet shave experience.

Using the brush and soap/cream instead of the canned stuff is honestly the best and most luxurious part. Welcome and good luck!
