Just wondering if there was any reason to using different codes for smileys on this board, other than the traditional (and faster) notations.


such as:

:) = :smile: (smile)
:( = :frown: (frown)
;) = :wink: (wink)
:D = :biggrin: (biggrin)

and so on.

Pretty much just a curiosity, since I keep stumbling on this and using traditional codes and having to edit my posts.

No reason other than the original smiley tags are what come stock with a fresh install of vBulletin.

I usually just "Go advanced" and pick one from the "menu". I like the choices we have. This :shaving: little guy is a lot more fun than just the quickie smilie, IMO. :biggrin:
