I won this off dBay - does anyone know anything about this model (age, quality, etc)?
Thanks!

follow up - I received the brush I won on dbay - the handle is hollow plastic, apparently - it is a small brush... 21mm knot, 46mm loft, handle is 36mm, so 82mm total height.

Man you are the vintage English brush sniper on the bay! Or at least, the two vintage brushes I've payed close attention to.
I was actually gonna bid on that one if the handle was bigger. It does seem to be a travel brush though

this really is a nice little brush! It reminds me of my Rooney 1/1 in size, though not as much backbone.
Incidentally, I'm getting ready to attempt my first restos - I have a couple of nice old butterscotch handles all cleaned out & ready for plugging.... (I might start with a handle that's a little less nice, though, for the very first try!)
I will take pics & post 'em.
As far as this little Kent - there is a "Made in England / Patt No 715632" on the bottom.

I emailed Kent Brushes in hopes that they might be able to ID this brush for me - and after I sent pics, an export relations' rep emailed me with this info:
I have managed to find out that this brush was made in the late "60", the last time I can find it on a price list is 1971 and it had a retail cost of £14.00 .
It was in our economy range of shavers having a plastic handle and filled with badger.
Now. It is nice to have a little info on this brush (I guess taking inflation into account, I got something of a bargain with my $28 purchase) - BUT...
the people at Kent Brushes actually took some time to research this for me! I am astounded at that. No money in it for them (immediately) - just good feelings. They have no idea if I am a customer current or future - but they still took the time.
I feel good about that. Kudos to Kent!

The folks at Kent are a pretty amazing lot (see my latest update in the "Proceeding With Caution" thread - sorry, I don't yet know how to link it directly). Given this story as well, IMHO, Kent is the only brush I'd ever buy...at least new!

Bumping an old thread... this was one of the very few places online where I saw mention of the patent number 715632, which appears on the bottom of my latest acquisition:
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=37006 (http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=37006)
I did a little research and found GB715632 at http://worldwide.espacenet.com/publicationDetails/biblio?CC=GB&NR=715632
GB715632 (A) ― 1954-09-15
715,632. Shaving brushes. KENT & SONS, Ltd., G.B. Nov. 20, 1952 [Nov. 23, 1951], No.27569/51 Classes 19 and 61
In a shaving brush comprising a short cylindrical handle 10 with a clump of nylon bristles 15 extending from one end thereof, the bristles are mounted as an array of separate knots each mounted within its own recess or socket formed in the brush handle. In a preferred arrangement the bristles are mounted within a tapered insert member 17 which fits into a correspondingly tapered recess in the handle proper. The insert may be cemented within the handle in addition'to or instead of being a tapered. fit therein. The bristles are trimmed to produce a flat upper surface 27. The handle 10 is provided with four longitudinal flats 13 so that it is approximately octagonal in cross-section. Specification 20912/09, [Class 61(i)], is referred to.

Fair enough - but why put this patent number on what appears to be a badger brush? Anyway, if I understand http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statute_of_Monopolies correctly and it applies here, the UK patent term was 14 years back then. That places the patent ca. 1954-1968, which matches up with what Kent told bythbook about his brush.
