Hi,

I just inherited this piece from my grand-father estate and I'm puzzle at what it is . Il try my best the descriibe it to you..

It resemble pretty much a Gillette '50 Super Speed but with a red knob. I had to polish a lot for this but there a III engraved on the diamond that forms the base of the razor seen from under. As weell, it says Made in England.

Can someone else help me ?

Nomenclature is a bit confused on this one but it's either a red tip Rocket or a red tip Rocket "Superspeed"

If there's a gap between the handle and the TTO knob when silos are closed it's a Rocket. If there's no gap either when it's open or closed it's a British "Superspeed"

Post a piccie if you can, this will help IDing :001_smile

See MTGraylings great reference on The Shave Den.

There is a gap between the knobe and the handle when silos doors are closed. So this makes it a Red Tip Rocket... I would like the year that the III stamping denotes... There are no signs elsewere on the razor...

Anyway, Thanks a lot !

PS: See MTGraylings great reference on The Shave Den. Execellent advice. They has an excat picture of mine !

Those are quite nice. You don't see them too often.

This is not a date code but stand for:

I for a light beard (Blue Tip)
II for a normal beard (Normal (Nickel) Tip)
III for a heavy beard (Red Tip)

To get the year, there should be a letter on the left underside and a numeral on the right underside of the razor. That will denote the year of manufacture.

No manufacture date code exist on British Gillettes....

Makes it a pain to identify ..................

But doesn't matter as they're such great shaves :tongue_sm
