Hello fellow wet shavers. been lurking for a while and decided to post after my first shave with my new DE razor (a 17$ Weishi with Astra blades, badger hair brush and Omega "Sapone da barba")
first of all i have to start by saying that i hate shaving. it always seems like such a chore, and razor burn and ingrown hairs aren't fun either. in fact, last year i grew a beard just to avoid shaving...

my first shave wasn't particularly great. i did three passes because the first two didn't really 'reduce' the beard much. needles to say, lathering with a brush and shaving 3 times takes a bit more time than im used to. and in the end, after the three passes, i still had stubble left. many strokes didnt seem to actually cut any hairs, but blade angle is something i know i have to keep working on...
my neck and lower jaw areas were particularly difficult because there doesnt seem to be any flat areas!
another thing that i didnt like was shaving after showering. after getting all clean, i get shaving cream dripping on my neck, chest and a bit inside my ears. sure you can wash it off, but it feels odd.

im looking forward to getting more skilled at this, and enjoying closer shaves with no(or little) razor burn. oh, and possibly asking you guys lots of questions ;)

What razor and blades are you using?

Each pass should definitely reduce the beard. It's not like cartridge shaving where you can get almost all of it off with one hard pass, but each time you go over it you should be removing stubble.

You can hear the hairs being cut if you're holding the razor at the correct angle.

I also hated shaving prior to finding B&B. Now i'm looking forward to my shaves. I hope the feeling lasts.

Welcome to B&B! The better you get at it, the less time it will take. On the flipside, the more you start to love it, the more time you will wish to take. Good luck!

Welcome to B&B. Once you get that angle right, it'll quickly become second nature. Keep us posted, and do keep asking questions!

Welcome.

If its not cutting, double check your angle. You only need one pass WTG, then XTG for now

Welcome to B&B. Don't worry, things will improve and so will your technique. I had problems when I first started too, but things improved in just a couple of weeks.  :001_rolle
