Skipped dinner last night, as I had to chauffeur my nine year old daughter to her "job". She has a gig for a market research company, where she has to give her professional (kid's) opinion on products. Yesterday she reviewed potential commercials for cheeze nips.

Sounds silly, I know, but $70 for an hour's work isn't too shabby, and--best of all-- she gets to go on endlessly about how she earned more money than mommy!

I did manage to skip out for a half hour to devour a bowl of GLP Caravan in a rusticated Cavicci.

I love market research! A couple months ago I got $150 for 1.5 hours of talking about our Honda Pilot. A week later, my wife got $35 to test some new diapers (chaning diapers wasn't anything new in the letterk household). This past weekend my wife got $35 for 20 minutes of testing a new cracker.

Sorry for the tangent. Um...last night I had a Newcastle at Red Robin.

I can only imagine the looks on their faces when your daughter speaks her mind. Based on her comments you have mentioned this must be pure comedy.

JP...what is that pipe ?

Rick,

That's a Stanwell #191 with the Majestic finish. It was my first pipe and is the one I use for puffing on aromatics. I picked it up at a local tobacconist - here's their image of the pipe (Majestic Bent Bulldog): LINK (http://www.briarpatch.biz/Stanwell.html#STA1033)

I have one other Stanwell, which I use for Virginia blends: LINK (http://www.cupojoes.com/cgi-bin/spgm?dpt=H&srch=KW&item=stamaj11)

... and a J.M. Boswell (no pic) for English blends.

Following Ouch’s advice, I bought bottles of Madiran and Costières de Nîmes. I also purchased a Crozes-Hermitage.

That Madiran is not bad at all. Not quite on par with Fitou and Minervois, but better than Saint-Chinian.
