Gentlemen,
Another question of utter importance: What footwear do you sport at home?
I'm partial to Draper of Glastonbury's Anton sheepskin slippers, which I think are the best on the planet. When I bought them the salesguy tried to get me a pair in purple, 'the papal colour, sir!' (weirdo...), but I went for classical dark brown.

I was actually looking at a pair of Ugg Slippers the other day. What do you guys think of those?

I have a pair of ugs slippers that I recieved as a gift from an ex-girl friend three years ago now -- I like them very much (I'm actually wearing them now).
They've broken in nicely on the interior of the slipper (my footprint is worn into them so that they fit just so). I don't have anything to compare them to, but I have no almost no complaints.
Given the frequency I wear them (frequent) they're in excellent shape. They have a decent sole -- I've gone outside in them and they do protect some against the pavement -- some, not a lot.
If its important to you that your slippers take on that cracked well-worn look -- the ugs don't do that -- they broke in nicely inside but on the exterior mine sitll look close to new. But they sure are comfortable and they keep my feet warm and take me to that pleasant comfortable place.

I have a question for those of you who do own some high end slippers:
What kind of support do these expensive little slippers provide?
I wear the least expensive slippers, I can find from Kohl's or overstock.com. Still, if someone suffers foot pain--it is best to get some crocs or birks to slip on and off to give arch support.
Socks in the winter, bare feet in the summer!
Along those lines, I like to keep a pair of shoes next to the door for those quick trips outside that take a minute or so, such as the trash, getting the mail, and so on. They need be such that I can just slip them on without tying. This was a habit that I got into while growing up, after we visited Holland. Mom bought a pair of the wooden shoes that were comfortable enough to fit everybody, and we kept them by the door for that reason. They lasted at least a couple of decades.
scuff slippers
I have the same exact slippers, and love them--warm, comfy and nice to look at--and I can get the paper in them in a pinch!
If you're looking for support, a slipper isn't in the picture.

Koolaburra booties (similar to Uggs)
I dont wear the slippers because my feet slide out of them if I have to go outside and walk up a hill. Heavy duty smartwool socks are also great for indoors.
i wear some apres ski boots, really hightopped scuffs, with sheepskin and sheeps fleece on the inside from some canadien company, pacific coast sheepskin company or something like that. I can google it if anybody really cares. just pm me

I have these as well...warm and comfortable.
If anyone knows where I can get stiletto slippers, I'll be able to cross one gift off of Mrs. O's bday list.
As for me, I have an old pair of hand made, no name sheepskin slippers that I'm not parting with until I die.
I usually wear some Naot clogs in the house. We have a lot of hardwood floors. I find the support of full sole to be easier on my feet and back.

I really hate wearing shoes, honestly. Must be that appalachian mountain boy upbringing....
So around the house, I am either barefoot, or in socks.
Unlike slippers, my feet are not damaged by a quick trip outside.

Mine are getting more so. Not a fan of going outside barefoot in the city, so much....
When I used to WW kayak a lot, I could not wear any kind of footwear in the boat, generally, because my feet are large and would barely fit as it was. So I pretty much got used to walking on sharp pointy rocks and gravels barefoot.

I'm a huge fan of Crocs...good support and cushioning. Their comfortable at home, and don't attract dog hair. I pack them in my suitcase, for travel, unless it is a long flight and then, I'll wear them on the plane!!

I stopped wearing socks about the house when, years ago, I nipped out to the garage where I kept my home brew barrels for a pint and stepped on a toad! My house had been built between two lakes and was on the route for the toad when they turned frisky!
It was hard getting the toad out of my socks so I reckoned barefoot was easier to wash off in future!
I do have a pair of the real Australian version of Uggs slippers these days though. Wonderful.
Did you know that Uggs Australia is an American company these days (Decker Outdoor) and they are made in China?

I've got some and think they are okay.
Good cushioning, but not great support for me.
Wonderful on long plane rides. Horrible for walking long distances in the airport.

Crocs makes a diabetic relief shoe. I don't know much about it, but here's the link. (http://shop.crocs.com/pc-47-4-rx-cloud.aspx?reqid=47&reqProdTypeId=411p&subsectionname=footwear§ion=products)

Tim, I have that exact shoe in Chestnut nubuck and I really like it. I got them in October, and have been wearing them a lot (at least when the temp drops below 80 here in Texas). The thing I like the best is that my feet don't sweat when I'm wearing them. The sheepskin and whatever else is on the inside wicks away the moisture. I wear them barefoot and they don't have a hint of stink so far. I was hesitant to pay $80 for a pair of houseshoes (I always got the polyester Dearfoams boot types after Christmas for half off on clearance), but I am a believer in Uggs now.
Hope this helps.

My mom used to walk out in the middle of winter wearing shorts and a t-shirt and bare feet to get the dog back into the house. She would do this in subzero cold on packed ice and snow. Woman never caught a cold, ever.

I've seen them at Marshall's or TJ Max in the past, but not consistently....so I wouldn't go running there for them. Keep in mind that they could pop up anywhere (typically in the warmer weather).

I'm partial to Draper of Glastonbury's Anton sheepskin slippers, which I think are the best on the planet. When I bought them the salesguy tried to get me a pair in purple, 'the papal colour, sir!' (weirdo...), but I went for classical dark brown.

I have these as well, Prior I had a pair that had a bit more of a rubber sole that raised you off the ground a bit more, while it was definitely "better" if you wanted to go outside to grab the mail or something I did find that they didn't feel "stable" I rolled my ankle in them more than once. I never actually did any damage but it scared the crap out of me (I've broken ankles before, not enjoyable)

Can you replace the sheepskin soles in the Byron model? I have the Ascot model and you can't replace those. So, my next Ugg will have replaceable insoles, which I think really improves the life of the shoe.

Interested in this too. I have the Ugg Tasman and the insole is not replaceable. The sole is bomber. I wear them mostly indoors, but also outdoors when taking out trash, running to the mailbox, etc. I expect the sole to last a long, long time at the rate I'm going. It is the insole that has a short life and needs periodic replacing.
