Recently I had been trying a tube of Arko Citrus, trying to really make it work not only because I loved the smell, but I also loved the price.

I whipped up a batch again tonight and when I shaved my head and did the first pass on my face I came to the following conclusions (sort of like a loves me, loves me not process):

-Arko Citrus smells lovely....reminds me of the good Florida Oranges.
-Arko Citrus does not protect my skin
-Arko Citrus is rather easy to lather
-Arko Citrus makes my face hurt (irritation from the razor)
-Arko Citrus is wonderfully cheap
-Arko Citrus does not soften hair AT ALL

Unfortunately, all being said and done I just don't think Arko is going to work for me (at least not the Citrus). It does lather relatively easy and the price makes it attractive but my head and face are just too valuable to trust to Arko. I also just don't enjoy my shave. I feel like I'm being overly cheap and putting up with irritation just to pinch pennies and I don't have any fun. Therefore, the tube was retired to the shower, where it will be used to shave my forearms.

Has anyone else ever wanted to like Arko, for whatever reason, and just found you can't get it to agree with you? Is there something I'm missing here or some way I can make it better?

I've tried a couple of different Arko creams and like yourself found it just lacked something. It just doesn't give the cushion or protection I can get
from Prorasso never mind from the like of TOBS. Even cheap Palmolive cream gives me a better shave.

I've ended up using the remainder of mine with MWF to make superlather.

I really enjoy my Arko Moist. And I've heard great things about the commando... but I have yet to try that.

Ah well, i guess with everything in life YMMV.

Yes (for the same reasons as you listed), yes (for the same reasons as you listed), no, no (to my knowledge, in any case). If it works for you, then great. If it doesn't, I found simply moving on is the best option.

Suggest trying the dermalogical tested arko products. The lavender worked well for me. Other scents are also available for sensitive skin.

Board member melyus offers the complete line. Do not give up on arko.

Try using less water . If you use a badger brush shake it out well . Use more cream . Sounds like your water to cream mix is off . Or try more water for a shave then less water next . See what will make the Arko work for YOU . Arko is a good product . I never feel I missed something when I use it .

Lay your blade back closer to the skin . Creating a shallower angle with the edge . If you get razor burned this helps a lot . :001_smile
