Ever heard of of Dewen for fountain pens? It's definitely a cheaper pen. I am next to broke after buying plenty of gear to get started in straight shaving. I ended up getting a Dewen fountain pen and some Waterman black ink. I read good things about the Waterman ink. Just wondering about the pen. I came across 2 other different reviews on different pens from them, and they both liked them. :001_huh:

Don't know that make but I do have a couple of other Chinese pens. They aren't bad and excellent value for the money. Don't get used much now though as I bought a Pelikan and a Sailor. Now I'm broke too!

I think there are only a few pen factories in China making pens under many brand names. Some are quite high quality but far too ornate for me. I like a plain pen.
One thing I have noticed on the couple of Chinese pens I have is that the nibs run a lot finer than western made pens, so their medium would be more like a western fine. Not a problem for me as I prefer fine nibs.
If you don't have a fountain pen I'd go for it. If it's not too good then you're not out of pocket by much.
If you want a decent but cheap name brand to start out, I can recommend the Lamy Safari. They are cheap and good writers. Made in Germany. They are made for ink cartridges but you can buy a converter for them so they can use bottled ink. I have one of the Lamy Al Star pens which is a Safari but in aluminium rather than plastic and it's my everday take anywhere pen. Tough and reliable but not so expensive that I'll break down in tears if I lose or break it!
They also come in a large range of nib sizes and shapes.
Be careful - FPAD can be a very expensive illness!

lol yeah I would imagine it could get exspensive gareth. I went ahead the other day and also picked up a cheap silver parker vector pen. I read it was alright and Parker is a good brand, so yeah.. Hopefully I wont spend anymore money... hopefully.

ADs? Addicts?..
We have many ADs on this forum! Acquisition Disorders!
The most common are RAD - Razor AD, SCAD - Shaving Cream AD, SSAD - Shaving Soap AD and the most expensive, SBAD - Shaving Brush AD.
FPAD is not unknown, I have about 20 of them!
My most expensive AD is MAD, melodeon AD. I can't stop looking for my next melodeon, button accordion, see my avatar. I have six now ranging in price from a few hundred pounds up to the over £2000 :w00t: for the hand made Italian Castagnari in my avatar!

Hmm well addict seems to be close enough to AD then. oh and you seem mad (as in insane) in regards to your MAD. Also, which would be cheaper, a therapist or just going with the flow?

At least I get some cash back with my melodeon acquisition disorder. I play in a ceilidh bands most weeks. I reckon the expensive one has paid for itself already.
