I just received this from mom. It belonged to her friends dad. Found this to be an aggressive little guy.
It is a Gillette and came in a small box that was marked New standard inside the cover. I have not been able to find anything about it. Under the head it says Reg. US Pat OFF, K 2, made in USA. Inside it says Pat. Nos on PKG.
Any help you could provide would be great. Thanks.

That is a second quarter 1965 Super Speed in a very rough New Standard box from the 1920's which would have had a Gillette New Improved razor.

It looks like it's in pretty good shape, so just use some Scrubbing Bubbles with a toothbrush and it should clean up nicely. BTW, Super Speeds are not known to be aggressive razors so make sure that you're using a good blade. Here's the B&B razor wiki that you can use anytime you need to learn more about a particular razor:

I have cleaned it and it came out really nice. I know first hand that it is an agressive razor. Gave it two tries and put it on the side for now until I figured out what it was.
I have a Fatboy and I thought it would be nice to have a lighter razor to use, but this may not be the ticket.

This razor should be less aggressive than a Fatboy set at 3 if I read my blade gap chart correctly.

This is going to sound like a stupid reply, but once I was using a SS just like yours and wondered why it was feeling so aggressive. It turned out that I didn't have the TTO shut tight.
What kind of blade are you using?

I was using a Gillette 7 o'clock that usually works well, but this was a little on the harsh side.
I thought the chart said it was about a 5 on the fatboy. I ususally shave on 4 setting and the SS was noticeably more agressive.
What other Gillettes would be like the fatboy on 3 or 4? I like the razor, but wonder if it would feel better with a lighter razor.

What else out there is comparable to the Fatboy 4 setting? I would like to purchase a second, lighter razor to change things up now and then.

Might try a Gillette Tech. It's milder than the fatBoy on 4. A Weishi is a really mild TTO razor if you aren't in the mood for a 3-piece.
