Day 2 of the Korean J-Force blade. It's MUCH more forgiving than a Feather, but I don't like the way it drags... although it dragged quite a bit this morning, but I have no nicks and only a slight irritation on my jawline.
Maybe it's the Palmolive cream... I think I need to work on the water:cream ratio. I don't care much for the smell either... smells like standard hand soap or something.

Jason - What's a Korean J-Force blade?
http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6741&highlight=korean+blade
I picked them up from that sale a few weeks back. Rene (SSLStudio) originally called them EJ-Force 800, so I left out a few letters and numbers there. Sorry about that.
They're the blades in the very front of the picture in that thread. The orange colored wrappers. They tug something fierce for me so far, but otherwise are a good shave... just scary.
I'm not sure if I have the 800 series or the 810 series... I've seen Rene mention both in his posts. I think it's the 800 series.
Hope that helps.

Jeff traded me some Florena, and early indications are that it's a great cream and it's going to become part of my rotation  I gave it a tough test, just a minute or so splashing my face with hot water, then into the shave. You could hear that Tesco blade cutting every single hair. And still my face felt great afterwards, and pearly smooth :w00t:
It's probably testament to the greatness of Ingrams and Erasmic that Florena isn't seen on the shelves here in the UK, I think it's an equal in many respects and probably even better on the skincare front.

Perhaps not a smart idea to start shaving with a Straight when you only had 3 hours of sleep that night and started at work at 6 AM. I am also on call for this week so was woken up a few times downside when you are on duty and have the morning shift.
Got home studied more the B&B dvd and Lynn DVD.
Started stropping the straight... then cut into my strop not big just a tiny cut but still a cut ! I see how a hanging strop is better for beginners then a paddle strop I think.
Started shaving with the straight... 1st pass 1st move.. went ok..still too much drag then im used to so dont know if either its proper honed or if my stropping aint right or im too chicken to really get going ! anyways it took quite some hair off 2 days no shave stubble.
then I pointed the razor again on my cheek and must have slightly moved the blade from West-East.. CUT !
immediatly stopped.. just a tiny super tiny blood dot...but enough to recognize dont go for the first prize tonight I might not be ready mentally and
physically.
The Ingram nice..not so cold as people make you think ,not smart either starting with 2 unknowns the Dovo and Ingram 1st time use. but when you wash off the lather its Polar bears around you..
Much respect goes out to those who use STRAIGHTS ! there really is nothing that protects you but your good technique and a proper honed blade..
back to school for me... :frown:

Me neither ! I need new underwear handling my Dovo straight let alone what Joel is using these days ! that would have beend something to have that on the B&B DVD the shave with the Japanese razor.
For tomorrow.... i'll be taking on "the incredible hulk" - much, much better looking in person. I'll take some decent pics of it one of these days. Believe it or not - that's actually an 8/8 Friodur, yet it looks much smaller because of the MASSIVE scales. This sucker has the biggest scales I have ever experienced... really one hell of a handsome razor.

I'll do a few little "utube" videos next week on straight razors - I'll do one of me shaving with one of those beasts if you'd like. That one in particular is incredibly old... and really, really, really frighteningly sharp.

A good shave, in part due to the excellent abundance of lather -- thanks for the suggestion guys it really does work. The Derby blade has reached the end of its life, it's not tugging yet but the shave was not as close as it could have been.
Amazing that I could spend only 2p per shave on the DE blade, I'd need to use a fusion for a hundered shaves or a Mach3 for fifty shaves to get that vfm.

The e-shave cream is the most lathersome cream of the 9 or 10 I have tried so far, I only used a kidney bean sized blob but the lather exploded out of my mug. Very smooth shave and a good scent. Definately my joint favorite so far, along with Taylors St James.

The soap is terrific, very nice soapy scent very slick with a good cushion
an A+ soap makes tons of lather..I would heartily recommend this soap it is a premium product!
The twin injector blades work well. I had some problems with them clogging so I need to rinse them more frequently. A nice A+ shave

MUCH better results on Day 2 of this Korean EJ-Force 800 blade. No tugging this time, but the new PSO might have had something to do with that. It appears that the PSO destroyed my initial lather on my face... it was very thin and transparent on my first lather. I actually had to use more cream and more water to get the lather back to "normal" after massaging in the cream after the PSO.
But all in all, a VERY good shave today. I liked the vanilla/sandalwood combination.. which was inspired by MamaBear's Vanilla/Sandalwood soap.

My D70 is also one of the early models. I’ve had only one problem before and it is possible I was responsible (it was almost permanently connected to my PC).
Fear not, Jim, yours is a D70s.
A good point for Canonists. Or a good excuse to buy a D200.
I just want the Canon EOS-5D... 35mm full frame image sensor, 12.8MP CMOS sensor, ISO capability from 50-3200,... :em2200:
All for only approximately $2,800 :em18:

I threw my sample of Speick cream into the "miscellaneous" drawer, thinking I wouldn't use it for a long time. After reading Scotto's comments about its lathering earlier this week, I gave it another go. Glad I did. I spent another minute (maybe 200 more strokes) working on it, and was rewarded with a very nice shave. The lather was very shiny and lubricating, but still a bit thineer than I'm used to. Very nice cream, and good advice.:thumbup1:

Taylor's Avacado was my first "real" cream... started with the Proraso Green tub, from Target. The Avacado is still one of my favorites... nice and lubricating lather. I think it's time to change out the EJ-Force 800 blade... some irritation on my neck today and I think it's because I subconsciously pressed down too much. So far none of the blades I've tried (Merkur, Derby, IP, US Personna, Feather, 7am, Sharp) last for 5 days. I always seem to have to change them out after 3 or 4. Oh well... good thing they're cheap.

My first straight razor shave...
Started out great on my left (dominant) side...but got much more difficult once I went to the right hand side!
I also left a lot of hair that I had to use the Futur to clean up. I don't know if the razor wasn't sharp enough, if I didn't strop it right, or if it was just because I had 2 days worth of growth. It didn't seem to want to cut the chin, moustache areas, just skip and drag over them.
To get my right hand side of my face/neck, I also had trouble regarding switching hands. Was just really difficult trying with my right hand. I ended up using my left anyway.
Still, since it was really fun, and I didn't end up cutting my throat, I consider it a success!

Congrats ! !!! you got much further then my 1st try ! I cut a little into my strop but nothing devastating then I cut my cheek a bit and called it a day.
so next time you will get better im sure what I do learn from using straights is fine tuning my DE technique even more since that doesnt get so scary now so I more in tune now with angle of blade versuses speed and pressure.

Im still hunting for the Shower Gel !!!!!!! sigh crazy stuff the cream is better then the soap !
No worries im about to launch a new type of Aftershave conditioner you can get the balsem then... dont worry I got 4-5 pieces of everything and still need to do a big order for Chagidiel of VGH aswell which Ill do on Monday im on a 2 weeks holiday now so have a bit more time now.

I often give the Proraso cream a hard time, but I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the soap, as it was the first "proper" shave product I ever bought. Short on prep time, so the Proraso pre/post is a good choice, and that poor tub of Proraso sapone di barba had been sitting neglected for a while.
Gorgeous shave, just 2 passes as a tidy up, but it freshened me up no end, leaving me fit to head back to the hospital.
The Brut EDT (bought on a whim as it was reduced in tescos) was just the icing on the cake for me, a real old school shave, that I think I will do again before too long.
Mother and baby doing fine, we're all back home now. A good day all round
